I've been debating buying a mechanical keyboard for a while now but decided to just get a Logitech G105 a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to know if mechanical keyboards actually offer any benefit to gamers. I know they're great if you do a lot of typing but apart from that, are they worth investing in?

I couldn't go back to a regular Keyboard now ..not after having my Ducky Shine for a few months.....and that's for typing and gaming ...much smoother :)

and as goes the noise of a mechanical Keyboard ?....it's not an issue for me :)

You'll notice it upon the first keypress.

If you're a gamer, you'll notice it within the first few seconds how more responsive and instant they are.

Plus the build quality is generally much better.

It does sound, like seriously?, £100+ for a keyboard? But you'll soon realise why and be pleased with the purchase.

I love my Q-Pad. I don't think I would go back!

I definitely find that there is less fatigue in my fingers since switching when on a marathon gaming session.

100% worth my money and I still wonder why I never bought one sooner.

That's what is holding me back. I get through a lot of typing, but over £100 for a keyboard? I just can't quite bring myself to click 'Buy'. Back in the day I got my keyboard, mouse, and speakers all for £15. They aren't exactly top-of-the-line, but they've lasted me 6 years.

When I first looked at replacing my mouse and keyboard I was just gonna go with one of the Logitech sets for a tenner but in the end I spent £45 on the mouse (Corsair Raptor M40, totally worth it by the way) and £55 on a Logitech G105

Yeah, I'm looking at the M40 or M65. I was in PCWorld the other day laughing at their selection of graphics cards, and they had an M40 on display - it felt so comfortable compared to my cheap, plasticky little mouse. Still, £50 for a mouse is as hard a concept to get my head around as £100 for a keyboard.

I do like them just for the build quality compared to regular keyboards, I use one with Cherry Black switches for FPS gaming just due to how responsive it is - very rare to activate a key by accident or not activate when I intended compared to most regular keyboards however it is pretty naff for anything other than pure FPS gaming.

IIRC blues are pretty much the typing switch of choice and browns/reds more general gaming use.

No word of a lie, it's the best mouse I've ever used. It's a definite recommendation from me. Funny you should mention PC World cause I was in there the other day looking at their small selection of 'components' haha

Cheers for all the advice guys. I can't afford to upgrade at the moment (I recently got married and my bank account is still in the recovery position) but as soon as my funds get back to a decent level then I'll look into replacing my Logitech

I went from Sidewinder X6 to Noppoo Choc Mini (with black switch) to Keycool 84 (with blue switch) and I can't go back to non-mech keyboard, I just can't.

The difference is huge.

Considering on moving to green switch, but I can't seem to find a keyboard with it anywhere in the UK.
