2014 FIFA World Cup Play-Offs and International Friendlies 14-19 November *** Spoilers ***

Well, he's currently joint top scorer for Southampton this season, so he scores enough to be useful I would say.

In the PL, he is on 3, 1 behind Lambert.

I won't mention his past scoring record. I think England are just short of good strikers.

And Lambert has a few penalties in there. We are bit of a strange side this season, don't score many but don't concede many.

He'd probably do better if he wasn't stuck out wide all the time.

Ok then, not sure what difference it makes to your point, he's been playing well and that's why he got called up. He hasn't performed this evening but that doesn't change the fact he had been good for Southampton

He's not exactly alone in underperforming tonight though is he, most of them have been crap

Neither Ibra or Ronaldo have done anything of merit in this match which is actually pretty open.

I wasn't really commenting on his performance, just how he got here in the first place :o

But I looked at the England strikers on offer and there are actually none unless you go into the Championship where you might find a better goal scorer tbh.

Playing well doing what? He doesn't score, his scoring record in the Championship was ok at best, he rarely scores for Southampton. Is his job to score for England?

He scored 3 goals when Roy was looking...

Silly call up as he's really not ready, been frustrating to watch all season, clyne should have been given a bash though
