*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Resolution was never the issues on consoles for me it was the low texture quality and the lack of AA and AF, I know resolution helps with AA but certainly not at 1080p you still need AA on to help with them.

For me if they said ok we have to run at 900p but because of that we have doubled the AA and AF quality and have got higher resolution textures, I would be happier with that.

What graphics card are these new consoles equivalent too in pc terms ?, for me it feels they have skimped in this department when the Ps3/360 came out they were pretty much up there with the pc's for a bit.

From what I can tell, high end graphics cards have jumped in price by a fair amount compared to the start of last gen. I'm not big on it all but high end nvidia cards are anywhere from £600-1000. Did this used to be the case in 2006? What I think I'm saying is the current high end tech just seems to be out of reach for both MS and Sony due to cost restrictions. I could be talking **** though. PC tech just seems to have jumped a load during current gen, but the games haven't.

Playing COD on the ps4. Small bits of slowdown... Very much like any other COD, except a higher resolution. You can tell they're using the exact same engine as the last gen, cos the shadows are still a little poor.

The rendering tech has been updated quite a bit with DX11 features: 2nd paragraph

The PC performance analysis seems to show that the nextgen engine is not very optimised and the likely cause of drops on the PS4 and XB1's 720p.

Apparently xb1 is like a 7770 and ps4 a 7850 or there abouts so fairly bad. Nvidea card top end always over priced but they don't just put conventional cards in the consoles. Ps3 ran games at 720 so expected better but good textures etc I guess it's good too.

Got an email from amazon last night . Saying sorry we still don't have a date for your solus delivery . And it's not the level Of service you would expect from us etc.....

It's too early to tell, there's a link to an IGN Wiki page on the deals page that has some tests but they're meaningless because they evidently didn't give the drive enough time to actually learn what data needs to be cached. It'd be better to wait for some guys who know what they're doing to test it.

No excuse for slowdown on a console that has literally just been released, still peeved at how underpowered these are I would have expected something that comfortably plays 1080p when is probably meant to last the next five years.

So why do titan equipped PCs have problems with slowdown on this game, they underpowered too?

Does the phrase "rushed development" not mean anything to you then? It's pretty clear many of these launch games were being pushed out the doors before they were ready, it's seemingly got very little to do with the hardware.

But that is precisely the reason why it is excusable.

Wait till we see what the likes of Naughty Dog and Polyphony Digital can do with the hardware. Look at some of the ps3 launch titles compared to current end of gen games.

One thing I would say is that consoles are going the way of PC gaming. Rush out a game and patch it several times. Console gaming is losing the polish and plug and play nature that it once had. I guess its natural but still quite irritating.

I bought the original PlayStation for Metal Gear Solid and this latest incarnation is a game I'll be playing on the PS4.

Added bonus is I've always wanted to play a game where I'm Kurt Russell as Snake Plisskin.

I've bought ever playstation because of Metal Gear Solid. MGS2 made me late for class on so many occasions. I would go home during lunch break to play it and then a 30 minute cut scene would make me late. :p
