**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I'm hoping I'll find out this weekend about how much stock (if any) we're being allocated at work (Asda) for the next-gen consoles, they seem to be keeping very quiet so far.

At first people assumed (because MS never corrected anyone) that the Kinect always had to be connected and switched on, so a lot of people didn't want to be forced into having a camera that they didn't want, and was always switched on.

Then MS said that the Kinect could be turned off. Now people were just annoyed they were forced into buying a console with a camera that they couldn't disconnect.

Then MS confirmed Kinect didn't need to be plugged in at all. Now people are annoyed they are forced into buying a camera they don't want.

Personally, given the integration between Kinect and the OS, I'm more than happy to have it.

To be completely honest the Kinect is one of the parts of the xb1 i am really excited about

Agreed, after watching some of the videos about it, it's very accurate and has a lot of potential. I hope there are some devs out there who will take proper advantage of it.

I would bet that after Xmas there will be cheaper Xbox one's available without the Kinect.

I think you might be looking more towards next Christmas for that, but I agree that it will come eventually, especially if the PS4 builds up a big lead.

Well surely it would be illegal to make an always on camera that OTHERS can see you through without you sharing. If its just on but nobody across the web can see you then who cares? :/

I'm looking toward to the Kinect side of the One. As it'll be ubiquitous with the One hopefully it'll be used a lot more and in some interesting ways.

Some people saw it as an invasion of privacy I guess. I was never bothered, but that's just me. Even so, I am glad there are options to disconnect it and turn it off. Everyone likes choice.

I think it's unlikely you'll ever have X1 without Kinect, MS have pinned it as one of their key differentiators and so much of the OS now have visual and voice recognition baked in I can't imagine they will ever reverse it out.

They may cut the price but the commitment to devs to have a "standard" environment with Kinect would be a disaster to back track from for them. The only way it's likely to happen is if stats showed a ridiculously low percentage of people used Kinect. Even simple things like power up and recognising who to log in are tied to Kinect now (although granted you could do it the old skool way I suppose).

Speculation is MS are breaking even on X1 this time so there will inevitably be price cuts, possibly more so than PS4 which supposedly Sony are already losing money on (which given their recent financial problems they can't really afford to do).

Indeed, much like most people have a camera on their laptops/webcam on their PC or camera in their smartphone.

I keep thinking of picking up Ryse but at the same time I think I might just wait and see what price it is on the live store

Game finally took the money for my Xbox One Day One Edition + Ghosts Prestige Edition bundle!

Woooooo! Now time to order Ryse and debate if I'm getting AC4 on the xbox or ps4.

It looks like the address issue on my order has been rectified according to the ShopTo ticket.

Now, I just need to think about what games, currently I don't want any of the launch line up :/

I think I ***** up, and will probably get laughed at :)

Cancelled my pre-order last week, now regretting it after watching the UI vids, looks great and useful.

Question, can you still pre-order day one consoles from anywhere?
