San Francisco to Transform Into Gotham for Boy's Batman Make-a-Wish

A little boy is about to get the surprise of a lifetime when San Francisco

turns itself into Gotham City on Nov. 15 to fulfill the 5-year-old leukemia

patient's wish to be Batman for a day.

"He is a sunny, positive little boy and finds his inspiration in super

heroes," Make-a-Wish said of the boy, Miles. "When we interviewed Miles for a wish, he surprised even his parents: he wishes to BE BatKid!"

Make-a-Wish decided to make Miles' dream come true and, in a rare move for the foundation, asked the public to participate.

Low quality op.

I think it's awesome. Too much **** and bad news in the world, it's nice this kid can see there is still humanity in the world and it's a chance for others to see that too.

To the hater(s), i was involved in the Wish upon a Star charity in the UK a few years ago and some of the kids wishes were to visit a RAF station, see aircraft etc.

I set up a visit to my then unit and took them to see the aircraft where the pilots and crew gave them a brief and tour, a visit to the military dogs where they saw a demo, played pool in the crewroom and chatted to the handlers, got fingerprinted by the coppers + other stuff.

But the best/worst moment of the visit was when visiting the fire section. One of the kids, maybe 6 or 7, was sat in the engine with firefighters helmet on and asked his dad to take a photo - he said to his dad to give the photo to his younger brother when he's gone so he can remember him when he was happy and having fun.

**** me, there weren't many dry eyes after that.

Day goes badly wrong as thousands of criminals dress up as Batman villains and go on the rampage.....

What a great thing to do for him!

I've got a lump in my throat just reading that :(

Sounds like a good opportunity to dress up as the joker and rob some place.

"It's just part of the fun guys, play along!" I say, as I hold up the jewelers at gunpoint.

Things like this are what gives me hope for humanity. Shame it's so damn outweighed.

Lovely story. Hope the kid beats it for good.

What a great story. That is so awesome. Even the President got involved. :)

I can't help thinking that if they asked to do that in a major city over here, the amount of idiotic bureaucracy, health & safety assessments and red-tape would be insane and it would probably never happen. Wouldn't be the same when Batkid's outfit was a hard-hat, hi-vis vest and protective footwear and the Batmobile had flashing yellow lights.
