Should Gary Barlow return his OBE?

Shadow treasury minister Catherine McKinnell said that even though he had done nothing illegal, Mr Barlow should return his OBE.

Bandwagon scum.

You have done nothing wrong, yet she wishes to punish you.
This is the heart of labour.
Punish without crime.
Do you ride this wagon, easyrider?

Labour are a disgrace, turning charity into political points scoring.

If hmrc shut the svheme, good, but using a legal scheme has nothing to do with giving back honours for charity fundraising.

So has Elton John. But he pays his Tax.

Fact is...what your saying is....If I give to charity Its ok to avoid tax?

BS post

Elton John was, for many years during the 1970's, a Tax Exile from the UK...he didn't pay any tax at all, let alone avoid it...even on earnings in the UK. He also has companies set up in countries with advantageous tax benefits and while he isn't part of certain tax avoidance schemes, it would be impossible to judge whether he pays the correct amount of taxation as he has refused to talk about his tax position whenever asked.

What I am saying is that someone's tax position is immaterial to their Charity Work.

A simple flat tax system if say 30% (as an example) would be better for he country as more people would be willing to pay and would stop tax avoidance if there was one simple measurable.

It would save is money (could cut back HMRC) and generate more income, instead we persist with the farce we have.

So the poorest families get hit the hardest? Not cool. And by your comments I'd be more willing to pay 30% instead of my current 20%? Go and think about what you've just said.

Just because something is legal doesn't make it right.

Elton John can pay his tax. So should Barlow....Mincing about singing **** songs for charity...Purely to boost your own album sales is tragic.

People don't do children in need for children. They use it has a platform for publicity.

He even used the GIG to promote his group rough copy:mad: The ******** ****

It's called equality. Why should someone who works hard be punished?

Oh that's right, rampant jealousy from scroungers, the joy that is Britain.

Tax Exile is fine.If one chooses another contry to live in.

Barlow should **** off to Zimbabwe and make another charity song for the queen by exploiting the vulnerable.

Nothing wrong with legally avoiding tax, absolute nonsense to have a pop at him for that. Would be like having a go at someone shopping around for buying a product cheaper then complaining the government gets less vat and tax from it.

What nonsense the rich have should pay more coz they can afford it, init

[/sarcasm]

Unfortunately for parties like Labour it's popular among their core voters to target the well off so will never let this happen.

Tax Exile is the ultimate Tax Avoidance...they still live and earn here, but simply spend a specific amount of time in abroad in order to avoid UK Tax.
