Tiny amount of complaints considering there are over a million consoles out there already

1200 5 star, 560 odd 1 star... Nearly half so not a tiny amount but you will get a huge number write a complaint when they aren't happy but not so many write a positive review sadly, maybe as they are enjoying their purchase.

But soon as it goes wrong, they soon write a review then..!!

UM you know Amaozon supposed to have sold over 200K consoles? So 500 or so out of 200K, even if you count them all as real its a very low %.

Only 1000 positive out of 200,000 sold? Must be horrible.

^ just to illustrate that you can't look at it that way.

Why not? Ive never written a positive review for anything ive bought on amazon. There does seem to be an issue with how amazon has packed the boxes though, but using this as any kind of metric is just stupid IMO in proves nothing as you dont have to verify your purchase to vote either way, and we dont know how many they have actually sold.

i too have never wrote a positive review over at amazon and have purchased a lot of stuff over the years with amazon.

i did however write a less then good review on OCUK actually for a monitor I got with a dead pixel I wasn't happy with it, so wrote to say so.

But if the monitor had not have had the dead pixel I'd have not wrote a thing..

I won't get to play mine until the 30th as I have to goto London for a meeting and then Curry and drinks.

Waited months for this and now I won't even get to play it on release day! :(

Exactly.

To be honest, we have warranties for a reason. So I'm not fussed really. But I do think a lot of whats happening is very very skewed

Well neither will I as its a 40th birthday gift so won't get to open the box until the 4th December, and the weekend it turns up anyhow, i'm off for the weekend for a 40th birthday bash and Lan party I50 or something. Going as I know the evenings will be mostly drinking lol with Pizza : - )

That makes the assumption that every person with a dead console submitted a 1-star review. Until either Sony or a retailer comments then it's all speculation, I've seen numbers from 0.4% up to 10% but in recent weeks I've also seen people quoting RROD failure rates from 10% to 75%. People are just plucking numbers to get attention or to attack/defend either console without having anything concrete to back it up.

I don't really mind either way, it'll be annoying to get a dead console but it'll get fixed/replaced and buying day one for anything tech-related always has a higher chance of issues.

So who is upgrading the hdd or sticking with the 500gb?

I think I will stick with the stock as I will just uninstall what I don't play after a while and digital purchases may be slightly more expensive still.

A large number of the amazon reviews are unverified purchases so a dollop of salt is needed with them. I'm sure plenty are genuine but i cant help think a good few are just people trolling.

If the rumor of the sabotaging of the PS4 is indeed correct, it could very well be that Amazon got that particular batch, which is why the reviews are getting hammered. Yes, there are failures else where, however the primary source of broken PS4 reviews seems to be from there, which indicates they got a duff batch of consoles.

In the grand scheme of things the failure rate of consoles is unlikely to top 1%, I'd be surprised if it turns out that more than 1 or 2 people on this forum get a broken PS4.

The comparisons so far don't show any major gains from SSD so I'm not going to head that direction. I'll probably hold fire on sticking in a 1TB drive as whilst the games are ~30GB I don't tend to swap between more than 3-4 at a time so I'd rather spend the money on a game or two.

Can I just ask, on release day I can login to PS Store and buy/download Madden 25? Is this correct? Also what prices are these downloads normally? 10 quid more than stores.. for example I can get Madden for 45 quid atm.

The PS4 headset -

that is terrible :(

I think its great. Cant be arsed with massive gaming headsets that make me embarrassed to go near a window for fear of passers by seeing me, tripping over massive cables and muffling the sound from my tv. Only thing that bothers me is it isn't a proper in ear design.
