Mantle VS Reliability?

There are bound to be issues with drivers from both sides, the AMD one was the only one that I could remember recently and picked up on.

The cheapest 780 on OcUK is £389 I think while the cheapest 290 is £317. Yes the 780 has a custom cooler setup etc but for that price the 290 seems like a no brainer really.

Recent and more are 2 different things, but the black screen issue is a show stopper for 290 users who suffer it, but both brands have show stopper issues at times.

Heat and noise could be included in the more issues part :)

However that depends on personal preference :)

If you use more than one screen, i'd go with a gtx 780 over amd at present simply due to the difference in idle power consumption. I've been using ati/amd for the last 13 years without much trouble, but chose nvidia for the first time as it is so much more efficient at idle. Not had any issues on the other side of the fence so far either.

How many years will it take to recover the cost of the 780 over the 290 in electricity? :D

Yeah, I had thought about that card, it looks great. I thought that i'd probably be better off with newer tech though.

Technically it still is new tech as the gpu's that are in it are re-badged as AMD's new cards. Its still the fastest single card (well......) solution and after seeing one in action ,was very impressed. Very quiet to boot as well

In games that support crossfire yes but it should be said you are very reliant on drivers for crossfire and if you like to play games on day of release its not always supported.

Yes i agree on the drivers, but to be fair the drivers aren't normally that long any way.

Virtually every game that gets released has had to have an update with in weeks of its release, so with that in mind i don't think the driver (x-fire) is a problem.

As mentioned previously the card is new tech and will out perform all of the other ones mentioned and it is remarkable value at the moment too!

If you are spending 400 on a graphics card this would be my choice hands down.
