Goodbye Winamp :(

Really sad to see this cease to be supported.

Winamp has ALWAYS been my music player of choice ever since I used PCs. I have even been using the same skin for eleven years.

Anyway, I'm sure someone will come up with a side-project and keep the name living on.

I have downloaded the latest and last exe.

Tis a sad day. I've been using WinAmp for over 10 years, less so these days with Google Music but if I ever play anything locally that's the go to player.

Will update to latest version and probably carry on using it when I need to though.

I used to use it years back and it was great didn't use anything else.

I can remember being of a 56k connection and downloading all the plugins every other night lol it did used to crah a lot when playing MP3 though

Just grabbed it again and put it on my NAS for safe keeping, been using Winamp for over a decade now hopefully I'll still be using it in a decade!

I personally don't like MusicBee so I've been using Songbird :)

Like Foobar, MusicBee requires a level of customisation to get it how you like it :)

Bah! This is shocking, sad, but I guess inevitable news. Winamp's been my MP of choice since the dialup days :(

I guess at some point I'm going to have no choice but to faff around with the powerful but unlikeable Foobar, and waste days trying DSP bridges and VST wrappers in order to get my beloved OzoneMP Winamp plugin to work with the recalcitrant sod.

Unless anybody knows of any other player/software which does what Winamp+OzoneMP does*?

* In case you don't know, OzoneMP is a limiter/compressor, tube sim, spatial enhancer and para EQ - invaluable when you've got tens of thousands of songs from the past 50 years of music production on shuffle, and don't want to be lunging for the volume control after every song. Replaygain isn't the same thing.

True; though if a security hole/exploit is discovered that makes it too risky to use, that would shorten the lifespan fatally. And with millions of users worldwide, it's still a viable target for such things, I imagine.

Thanks for the VST wrapper link, will have a read and calculate the faff quotient :)

ooh - nice plugin definitely need

Ohh damnit. I am still using the classic skin in winamp, always have.

I don't need/want anything that looks remotely like itunes. I just want a simple playlist with everything there :P

Saw this RSS this morning, I'm still using it. Started using it to listen to all the music I used to download off Napster on my dialup :(
