Battlefield 4 Video Card Performance - AMD Vs Nvidia

Rusty - yep, you are an idiot.

Back on topic, does not seem to be much between the 780ti and 290x, even if the drivers get tweaked, not much to see here until next gen.

72 hours. I can play again tomorrow. Funnily enough I bet you're allowed a hammer and sickle even though the Soviet Union were hardly angels historically. Context and all that. :D

Ah well. I'll have to think of something else :).

To be fair the USSR were no angels but they were also no worse than the British empire, Japanese or the Romans. However when your loading Jews, gays and the disabled into incinerators by the millions it kind of sets you apart really.

Depends how you look upon the context really as you have to take into account history and the era amongst other things.

Don't get me wrong - the NSDAP was a horrendous 'political movement' (and I use that term loosely) but you can see why they rose and how it was formed.

Anyway I sound like I'm justifying their actions which of course I'm not but my point, I guess, is that you can get away with certain things on things like emblems and the like but not the NSDAP. That's the red line irrespective of other historical atrocities.

Anyway we're (me :p) veering wildly off topic. Sorry!

It would most likely be allowed and in history most nations have hardly been saints.

Maybe a great big **** could be more aceptable i mean no one can be offended by chickens right?

Anyway I did say we should get on topic. Sorry was my fault for the digression.

Wait what, banned from BF4? How? lol

Edit: oops nvmind back on topic etc nothing to see here :D

So yeah 290X is the CLEAR winner for BF4 *smokes pipe*

Price Performance i.e. Frame's Per second verses Cost the AMD R9 290 is King.

Toms Hardware has a review with an aftermarket cooler fitted to the 290x and if my old grey matter serves me correctly, they say its good for an extra 15% (overclock), but the vrm gets hot and wont overclock much, so thereby suggesting heat sinks on the vrm modules as a worth while or necessary upgrade if your going to ring the nuts out of the card.

So if the gpu core runs cpol (with aftermarket cooling) but the vrm chips run hot without good cooling then we know the 512 bit mem bus is really pushing those 5000Mhz chips hard.

It looks like we need faster 6Ghz-7Ghz vrm modules to balance out the power of the gpu and vram heat sinks.

Anyhow my msi board cant see my gfx cards, so my motherboard looks like its folked.

What card? 290X? Tried flashing the MB BIOS? Not sure if it was the same as the 780 Ti but some motherboards can't see it without a flash.

Its a Z77a GD65 with 2x7950's. I'm not using the R series yet. Either I shorted something when I replaced computer case or I need to change something in the bios as my cards are not indentified in the pciE slots. The integrated gfx work though. So its not cpu, mem or harddrive related.

AMD have kinda shot themselves in the foot really by releasing the 290 at such a low price and some of them unlocking to a 290X. For over £100 cheaper in more or less all situations, the 290 is a peach of a card and performs far to close to the 290X for those price conscious types :)

Yep, for the money you got to be pretty anal to be unhappy with the 5% performance drop the 290 suffers.

I have locked up my credit card and patiently await the die shrink.

A good call and I will be doing the same. I badly want new toys but I am on Santa's naughty list :(:p:D
