*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

That's what I'm doing a quick power up to check it works then installing my 1TB drive. It will only take half hour or so with no game data to transfer. Saves doing it later when the drive is full and it takes hours.

got any ideas on what hdd to get, thinking 1tb but not sure whats the best?

I don't have room in the network rack under the stairs for an additional console (well, I do, but I'm not messing around with the layout for a console I will hardly play).

I haven't played The Last of Us, but I'm mindful that I can get some launch games and a spare controller for the PS4 and it won't "cost" me anything. If I leave that a few months the value is going to go down, no?

The Last Of Us is worth playing far more than anything on either of the next-gen consoles right now.

Have a think whats gonna be on your PS4 other than game installs and firmware updates - unlike the PS3 right now theres very little that needs to be backed up. Game installs will takes minutes to reinstall from discs so I dont think that advantage of doing the HDD upgrade at launch really is that significant

But in 6 months time or so when the drive is getting full it will be a pain. Installing a bigger drive now means less hassle later down the line.

I have the drive sat doing nothing so it may as well be used.

For the record I will probably pick up a PS4 when the game line up improves though the PS4 fanboys are really putting me off ever getting one to be honest and I am a big Playstation fan having bought PS1 to PS3 on launch.

That bolded part you must regret, probably the silliest thing ive read :D

Im not denying that there are PS4 fanboys and id also not deny that there are XB1 fanboys just as 'hardcore' in their views... so im assuming thats preventing you picking up a XB1 as well?

In all honesty, IF you are being put off of getting something because of random people you have never met and probably never will, then id question yourself.

The console is for you and you only (unless you are sharing) but you are choosing which to purchase to enjoy, not to annoy other people or in defiance.

Rivalry is a part of life and you must admit, it makes things more interesting ;)

Im new to all this HDD malarky on consoles.

Are we saying that the games are going to be bigger than PC installs?

Can I not just install and uninstall games? Can I just run a game from the disk?

This 500GB HDD to me sounds like loads, must at least hold 10 games? Thats all id need at absolute maximum... or is the HDD really poor, so we have to buy a SSD to make the machine useable?

500GB will be fine, unless you want to keep games installed that you don't play.

I intend to sell both my black ds4's put of my bundle and replacing them with a red and blue. Sad I know, but I just wannit! :p

Damnit why didnt i think of this!! I really cant be bothered to order a blue controller now to sell the black one on, nor can i resist not opening the black controller and wait for a blue on on release.. hmm.

Right, decided - going to stick with 500gb drive to start with. I am pretty sure that a lot of PS+ games will either not be keepers or will take up far less space than is consequential to begin with. As for disc games installing, I suspect that it is more likely we will see install sizes around 15-20GB at max - after all, how many PC games come in more than this?

Well if youve got one lying about then its moot, have at it. Im going to wait til theres a SSHD that fits my requirements. I dont think theres anything Id need to backup now or in the near future and Im happy to redownload PSN stuff...

Smallest install disc game Ive seen is around the 20GB mark - I think you might be surprised :p

I'm gonna wait until I can stick in a 2TB one.

Also think this is a pretty sweet collector's edition! :D
