*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

anyone know if this would be ok for the ps4

Seagate 1TB SSHD Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" 5400RPM 64MB - ST1000LM014

I was tempted with a seagate sshd 1tb that OCUK have on offer but Im really undecided espicially when I normally delete games I no longer play.

But is it worth it dfor the 64mb SSD cache? Given the size of game installs and that BF4 maps are like 2gb each, I would have thought at least 8gb? Unless someone can correct me?

cool , but I worry about heating issues with 7200rpm?

Then buy a fan like the ones you use in summer and point it at the console.

Tbh the PS4 should be very well designed and cooling shouldn't be an issue imo as it was the xbox which really failed on that front last time round.

Sony are known for making quality hardware.

Also these newer hard drives are more efficient now and with all the "green" stuff being pushed everywhere it has filtered through to everything. I suspect these 7200RPM drives run a lot cooler than their counterparts from 5 years ago.

Think you saw it just as I posted anyway - has anyone got a pic of what they look like in real life? I might sell my spare and get a coloured one instead but Im not too fussed tbh

ps3ud0

I'm sticking a 1TB Samsung 840 Pro SSD in my PS4 :p

Mainly because I have spare one lying around, and I already have SSD's in our PC's.. Might as well put it to good use, the extra speed and no moving parts, i.e no noise / less heat. Will be nice improvements over the standard 512GB clunky spinner drive. I'll hang onto that though if I decide to use my 1TB SSD elsewhere in the future.

I don't think I'll bother with a HDD yet. Can't see me having 10+ games for a while anyway and I'll just uninstall ones I'm not likely to bother with much.

Same here. Can't really afford the drive now anyway, with buying both consoles and 10+ games. I'll see about getting an upgrade in 6-12 months if I need one.

Send it to me if you've got them laying around spare :D

Tempted to get another console now and thinking of going down the ps4 route.

The main game I really want to play is gran tourismo but am I correct in saying that it's not going to be launched for another year or so?
