GAME sucks

Ok, that is a separate issue.

should I worry that i might not get this one release day? I have used up my remaining AL days in order to be in on the 29th and take the next week off.

Don't use GAME... wow I can't believe people still shop there.

Good luck OP, I hope you get it sorted soon, best thing to do is after they find the payment/sort it out, cancel it and get a refund, go somewhere else.

Ok I need a bit of advice here. I pre ordered a ps4 from the game website a few months back. Was told id missed the launch day but was 'guaranteed' one before Xmas which I'm fine with. I paid the £20 deposit via PayPal back then, all fine. Got an email this eve from game saying I now need to pay the rest and it's only asking for £309.99, so £330 total. I thought the ps4 was £349.99 minimum for the console only pack which is what I pre ordered.

Is this a scam??! Not clicked the link yet or anything.

Email is from '[email protected]' and it contains my order number, which is correct

@wunkley can you not just go into a game store to pay it off?

Not really no, and why would I? I buy everything online these days with no problems ever. I've got a feeling something's not right here. Can anyone confirm this price is wrong. Why are they only asking for £309.99 (plus £20 deposit = £330)?

Ok scratch that. When I actually click the link it's asking me to pay £329 via paypal with details about the £20 deposit. So the email I received was inaccurate and basically wrong. Not very good really is it. Not paying anything yet though looking at other people having problems with game / paypal

Regardless of the cause they're a **** company in general, spend two minutes talking to one of the dribblies that work there to confirm this for yourself.

But to be fair find me a retail store, that is not an independent, where that isn't the case, hell it happens in most retail environments including car dealers. The ones by me are pretty decent, the ones I've dealt with in the 20+ years they have existed have been on the whole good, we just don't need to loose yet another high street store especially one like game which would live exactly NO national retailers of games/consoles on the high street at all.

My attempt at pre ordering a Zelda 3DS and a few NES classics... Service is shocking, think I'd sooner pay the £20 premium OcUK charged on the PS4's and not have the hassle.:(

Amber T's response is my favourite  (Sorry Amber if you're reading).

What is "Ring fenced"?

I have just spoken to Paypal on the telephone and they inform me that you (GAME) have taken part payment for my order of £12.27, rather than the full amount of £207.56.
Why would you do this?
Can you resolve this please, It’s the first time I place an order with you and
this is the hassle I receive, I use PayPal on a daily basis and get no other issues with other websites and companies.

Hi Elf,
I can confirm that your order has been cancelled and payment was not taken.
Funds may have been reserved initially by your issuing bank, however,
this should be automatically returned to your account. Advice regarding the
period of time that this will take to show back in your account, should
be available from the bank directly.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I am confused to what you’re getting at.
I paid £207.56 and you refused the payment and took £12.17, why was the
£12.17 taken from my account? I did not sanction this and I require a
legitimate answer to my question not some "Funds may have been reserved
initially by your issuing bank" statement. This doesn't mean anything
to me.
So I'll ask again, why was £12.17 taken from my account?
Why did you not take my full payment for £207.56?
This is becoming increasing annoying now.

Hi Elf,
Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that the £12.17 taken was for the downloads, we won't have
taken full payment for the 3DS as th Zelda Edition has not been released yet and we only take payment at time of release.
I apologise for any confusion this may have caused.
If you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us.

Ok, now this makes sense, thank you.
So would I be correct that the remaining £195.39 will be taken from account on or around the date of release on the console?

Hi Elf,
Thank you for your email.
Once an order is rejected it can not be reinstated as we do not hold any
specific security data once the order has been placed, therefore payment
will not be taken.
Please feel free to replace your order through our website.
I apologise for any inconvenience.

Well I'd be in a vicious circle then, would I not?
If I replace the order again, you will cancel my order. So how can I order
something you’re not willing to take payment for?
Seriously do you even think before replying?
Also you said my order was cancelled. Then you contradict yourselves by
saying you have took £12.17 for part of my order.
What is the current state of my order, how much have I paid?, when if at
all will I be receiving any of my order?

Hi Elf,
Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that no money has been taken.
The £12.17 has been ring fenced, and was attempted to be taken for the download codes but failed due to security.

over priced as well...

went down on release day for some game my son wanted batman or something , £10 more in game than grainger games about 2 minutes away inside fenwicks...

grainger games was dead and game had a huge queue faceplam.jpg
game is always the most expensive place for games in newcastle

I walked back past waving my bag and receipt shouting "it's £10 cheaper in grainger games on the second floor of fenwicks and there is no queue!"

the sheep flocked off :D

i work at game and previously at gamestation ,most of the problems stem from head office .for a company like them ,they have some right numpties working from them ,

even at store level it depends what type of staff you encounter
