Failure to go on school trip is now racist!

I remember the explicitly non-Christian pupils in my junior school always skipped the hymns during assembly and never had to go to talks about Christianity but were never called racist and nobody ever really cared (except for maybe jealousy that they didn't have to sit through that cack :p).

That was the annoying thing - most schools fail to recognise non-belief... if your parents are Christian then as a kid you're forced to attend religious assemblies if you go to one of the nominally C of E or Catholic affiliated schools. Other kids with parents who happen to be Muslim, Hindu, Sikh or Jewish are automatically given a free pass to avoid this nonsense. Kids aren't stupid and a large portion of kids being forced to sing hymns etc.. are fully aware that its a load of nonsense... yet schools carry on wasting valuable time with this sort of thing.

but did you get branded a racist if you didn't go?

 i dont know as i always went to these school trips so your question makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Also im 41 so back in my days we didnt have any of this idiotic PC nonsense, people just got on with it. I feel sad for the young generation of today that they have to put up with this stupid PC nonsense.

Would schools send letters home to the Muslim children if they wanted to take the class to a Catholic church. I'm sure they would say that was racist as well/

Receive letters here, when my son goes to church. Have no objection me. It's all part of the learning curve.

What if the church served bacon butties for lunch as part of the "cultural enrichment"? :p

I don't think I'll even have to go there. As my little lad has packed launch.. So any extra's will be a No No. And even then he knows what to eat and what not to eat ;)

Is it though?

Young kids will usually believe what an adult in authority teaches them.
Take kids to a place selling some brand of religion and give them a fun time while they're there. You know, dress 'em in a hat while getting them on a prayer mat going through the motions.
The next thing you know your kids come home with a "mum is god x real?". What do you say to this? Do you tell them that the other adult/teacher/authoritative figure that has just spent a day teaching them lies, that there's no god or that those people are going to burn in hell?

Come on , getting religious hooks into young kids is desperate. Let them figure this stuff out when they're older with more common sense instead of baiting them with fantastic stories when they'll be suckered into anything.

One of these kids will be running a business one day, they will have an important customer come in who will be a muslim. The kid will try and offer him a beer :D

Nothing wrong with educating yourself about other religions.

No link what so ever, but I wouldn't want my kids to go on some trip to have some religion forced down their throat.

The attitude of thinking being educated about something translates to it being forced down their throat is the biggest issue here. Are you going to refuse to allow them to be educated about drugs because you think they will be forced into being junkies? Or refuse any sex education because you think they will come away from it pregnant?

Its education! Do you not think half the problem with racism is a lack of education?

The letter and the schools attitude is still utterly retarded, but you can see why they felt the need to do something to counter the inevitable retarded response from some parents.

Why you dissing the Traditional UK snack for? You being all racist up in my grill?

TASTY LITTLE PIG STRIP!

I barely managed to finnish reading the article i was that angry about it. Im sick to death of Islam in the UK now all you ever hear is Islam and how everyone who disses Islam is a bad racist. I hope she loses her job, she should do for forcing kids to learn about Islam. Try taking the Islamic kids to a Christian or Jewish day out and see just how much of an uproar there is among the Muslim parents. And why are we pushing Islam on our own kids? This is not the Middle East this is Europe we do not need to learn about Religion or Islam when we are a secular nation and have left religion in the past.

Again Islam and Muslims dragging the UK back 400 years. It is like having to go through the Enligtenment twice, and made worse by the fact we have a bunch of politically correct lunatics living in this country who are determined to make Islam a fabric of the UK and insist all of us educate ourselves on Islam. Hopefully UKIP win and boot the lot of them out of the UK. I would pay to see these traitors deported to the Middle East where they can all learn about Islam as much as thier blackhearts desire.

Do all Muslim businessmen walk around wearing "I love Islam" badges? just because someone looks Muslim doesn't mean they are, what if NOT offering them a drink costs you a contract? ;)

Are Muslims really going to get offended by you offering them a drink anyway? it's rather childish if so.

I visited a mosque as part of religious education in school. Islam wasn't forced down my throat at any point during the visit. Christianity on the other hand was quite frequently forced down my throat in school outside of religious education.

The women in the photos look like right chavs

Why do they?
They could be earning more than you and living in nice housing.
Stupid thing to say and it doesn't mean they are racists just because they went to the papers with this story.
If I had been given a similar blackmail letter I would have gone a lot higher to complain about it (not because of the event but because of the letter).
Stupid head teacher who needs removing from her position.

+1
But the daily fail Islamophobe bigots will see it how they want to see it! (i.e through their ignorant hate filled spectacles thanks to gutter media like the daily fail/sun..etc)

''I hope all this PC nonsense backfires and we have a generation of xenophobic BNP voters that see islam for the medieval-misogynistic culture that it really is.''

Be careful what you wish for!!
