Quick question out of interest.

What time do you leave your place in the morning to go to work, and what time do you get back home? Door to door, not your work hours.

I'm only asking as I was offered a new contract that, with travel, are going to be 14 hours door to door in theory. That's a worse case scenario as I could always leave early, but then again, I could not. And 14 hours seems a bit excessive to be. I guess I'm just trying to figure out whether these type of hours are kept by more people too.

Leave about 6:30, get back 5:15.

Why the 14 hour days? Is it the working hours or the commuting hours - I've done 14 hour days for long periods for both reasons, commuting was far, far worse for me.

6:30 - 6:00

Hoping to move walking distance to work soon though and lose the commute which will change it to 7 - 5

Commuting. I live in London and the job is in Birmingham which is roughly two hours away unless you catch the fast trains.

It's a good contract, they pay for travel and a very decent wage. Most I've ever been paid for any job. It's just the travelling and moving to Birmingham isn't realistic right now.

My new job is a lot better at about 9 hours plus 3 hours commuting but.my old one was around 12 hours plus 3 hours commuting.

15 min walk there and back. Leave house at 8 return home by 4:15.

I am lucky, there are some on my team who commute 1hr 30 mins each way! I couldn't imagine anything worse.

Leave at 6am generally an hours travel time into Greater London, generally home by 730pm but can be as late as 9:30pm, depends whats happening at work.

Joys of being on shift work.
