Hey,

As above. :)

I currently have an Enermax Galaxy 1kw (high wattage due to crossfire / possible tri-fire at the time), which has been by far the best psu I have ever owned. However, it is now well over seven years old, and due to a thread about an ageing psu I read the other day, I'm thinking that I should get a new one installed before this one gives up on me.

This time around, I would like to get a modular unit, and it must be very quiet. I have no set budget.

What would you recommend?

Thanks.

Are you looking for another 1000w PSU?

BeQuiet PSUs are extremely quiet, but their higher end models are a bit pricier than the competition.

No, it will only be powering the rig in my sig. I guess a sensible amount of headroom would be worthwhile having, but since my mobo is x16 / x4, it's fairly unlikely (though not completely ruled out) that I'll be going dual gpu for a while. :)

'tis indeed. The 24-pin, 8-pin, and two PCI-E cables are hardwired. The rest are modular.

It might not be fully modular, but if you're not using the cables that come hardwired on it you're doing something wrong anyway.

As an alternative, the Corsair RM750 is also a good price at the moment. It comes with some some nice flat black cables too. The Seasonic's modular cables are similarly sleek, but the hardwired ones are the usual affair. I already had some Bitfenix braided cable extensions, so it didn't matter to me.

I looked at that EVGA, too, but decided I couldn't live with the wierd handle thing on the back.

I would be a bit wary of the Corsair RM psu...... http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/rm750_and_850_thermal_issue/
