Domino's Pizza store tells staff 'speak English'

Someone call the waaambulance, probably better to speak English when you call them though.

I just don't get it, if I lived and worked in a German Dominos and they told me to speak German why on earth would I have a god dam problem with that.

Whiny *****s.

I find this a little ridiculous. Forcing someone to speak a language.. what? So long as it's English to to the customers, i don't see the problem.

I was always under the impression it was considered rude to speak in another language amongst people who can't understand it. Particularly when said people are in your company either as guests/hosts or at work. So yeah, I have to agree with Dominos on this one.

Seriously, you don't understand?

Persons employed can 100% communicate in english, and obviously do so with customers, but talk to each other in their native language.

Butt hurt little englander thinks they're saying bad things about him because of his small penis and raises a complaint, similar small penis managers implement the frankly ridiculous policy.

I think it's disgusting, stupid, and a clear warning that care in the community does not, has not and never will work.

You seem to be overreacting somewhat - I can see why someone wouldn't like people communicating around them with no understanding a lot of the time. What if there was only one person that didn't speak the other languages, they're bound to feel isolated from the others as a result.

It makes sense for Dominoes to want all of their employees to get on as best as possible, and the easiest way of encouraging this is if everyone feels included and part of the team.

Quits because he took offence to a rule brought in because someone took offence to someone talking in a language they didn't understand.

I'm deeply offended by the stupidity of everyone involved.

I take offence to the fact you are offended by offenders of offences; we will never mend our fences.

Don't care as long as they make sure there's plenty of ham and pineapple on my Hawaiian deep pan.

Ouch.... Domino's don't do deep pan....

I agree, english workplace, speak english

Having worked in the food industry for 6 years before this job and mostly where 90% of the staff are Polish you do feel a little excluded when they are all sitting around speaking it. It's extremely hard to make friends and does effect your job when you've no one to banter with while you work.

As a team leader at the time I took to learning Polish, or at least the basics so that I could communicate better with them however after 5 years in this job I can't only say "thank you", "good day" and "kurwa" :(

I think if its when they are working a common language is best, it brings the team together and allows them to work more efficiently. Breaks etc they can do what the hell they like!

And I think Telescopi needs to head back to better...someone sounds very grumpy ;)

You can be a Martian when you deliver but in the workplace I’d like to know what you’re saying.

I think it is a perfectly reasonable request, brings the team together etc

I have no problem at all with this. Expecting a common language is entirely reasonable. If they progressed into telling staff how they can speak during their breaks then they'd have crossed a line.

I couldn't give a ****, if they were speaking italian I'd find that reassuring.

I've worked with people who spoke in various languages out in the smoking area, do you know how much I cared? It's such a small amount of caring that western mathematical principals cannot accommodate it.

Everyone in this country should be made to speak English at all times - It's England so speak it.
If they won't them deport them. Too damn soft this country with immigrants.

Nothing wrong with wanting your employees to speak ENGLISH in a shop in ENGLAND

Nothing wrong with wanting your employees to speak POLISH in a shop in ENGLAND, either.

Many universities across Europe having English speaking research groups.

But.. why are they not overjoyed to be given a chance to speak the glorious English, they should be overjoyed to get to vocalise the harmonious phonetics that is the mother of all languages.

Bow down!

I think this is fair...

I would like to work in a place where oi had people talking around me and not able to understand what they are saying, it would make me feel uncomfortable and parnoid (as they might be talking about me).

So a common language, that everyone can speak and understand is needed...
