Xperia Tablet Z

Hi, can someone please explain a little about the remote feature to me? I had a look at one of these in John Lewis and I liked it and I was wondering if it was possible to setup buttons for my favourite channels i.e. SKy 1, BBC One HD etc.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance

Steven

None for me either.

I'm still pondering whether to get the dock.

I was going to get it but decided not to bother, the case I have as a cut out for the charging port, so its a lot easier to just use the charging port. It would be a pain to take the tablet out of the case every time you need to charge it.

If you're not using a case then I'd go for it :)

The remote feature works universally, you programme in the device you want, and select the remote keypad layout, If for instance you use Sky you access your favourites the same way you would do with sky.

You can set up Macros though which are really handy, 1 button and my TV, Bluray and Surround Sound all turn on :)

If its anything like my Xperia Z1 case, Which is a flip case and covers my flaps. My docks magnet is strong enough to pull though the case and charge it :)

I have had mine for months now and the fingerprint issue is now starting to drive me mad... I almost have to clean it every time after I use it.

Especially in the sunlight - the screen looks filthy and it's not because I have dirty hands. :o

Will it be OK to get another anti-fingerprint shield to stick on top of it?? I know it already has an anti-shatter shield...

I put one of these on as soon as i got mine. "Tech Armor Sony Xperia Z 10.1" Tablet Premium High Definition (HD) Clear Screen Protector"

Still loving this tablet all these months later.

Every other tablet I had has always had something that made me want to swap to another. The main bonuses for me:
The screen is great in colour, contrast and the resolution is fine.
It's so dam light and well balanced
The squarer edges make it nice to hold for long periods
Looks awesome too

It really is a great example of a well thought out design process and execution.

Even with more powerful higher res tablets around the corner I'll be reluctant to change.

Its definitely the well thought out design and execution that makes it - for all its not perfect it makes most other tablets, even better features/higher spec ones feel a step backwards to hold. Its gonna be tough moving on when the hardware is no longer upto it if theres not a similiar style replacement.

I totally agree with you, I got mine about 5 weeks ago and I really like it. The fact that newer more powerful tablets are out makes no difference to me, the Z feel's like a Premium device, its got great features and looks.

Well worth every penny imo.

Really like mine, it's a great tablet. It was very handy when I went travelling (one of the reasons I bought it) it's so light and portable and a joy to hold/use. My only gripe is the battery length could be longer but then it would be bigger and heavier.

Has anyone got the Sony charging cradle/dock for this?

SGP-DS5

Anyone?

No sorry mate, I was going to get one but then its a hassle removing the tablet from my Case, if you're not using a case then I'd get one.

I've got the Poetic StrapBack Case and use it with the official dock. Works well, but I picked the case because it works with the dock. The bottom bit folds back, exposing the dock contacts.

That's good to know but I would probably be using it without a case.

I have the dock, what would you like to know?

Works with the official case.

General thoughts on it really, is it worth getting for £40?

Mine was on offer, 1/2 price when purchased with the tab from the Sony Centre. At £30 I may have still bought it but at £40 not sure.

It looks good and gives me a safe place to store the tab and when stood up takes less space on any shelf.

The tab gets used a lot by myself and the kids, by going back in the stand it means it always has a good amount of charge when needed. I don't think I would trust the kids pulling out the port cover several times a day to connect a charger and I know it would annoy me. Pulling the headphone port cover off when needed is bad enough.

Audio out should have been included.

Thanks for replying. I've now seen it for £30 at the high street catalogue shop. Think I'll add to to my xmas list. :)

Does anyone have any good screen protectors for this? Made a mark on the screen protector applied to it as it comes and want to replace it...
