Whos PS4 has failed so far?

Is their any correlation between dead units? Is it down to manufacturing source like i have read or just pot luck form the unit on a whole?

My tv is old, i do plan on an upgrade but i have a hdcp compliant 28" monitor i can test it on to rule out any issues so i am not too worried about that, Like others though i would be devastated with a DOA unit, feel for anyone with this issue. I could imagine it ruining my whole weekend!

Fiddled around with it, including trying other hdmi cables/ ports and most I could get was some background music and a slight flickering at top and bottom of screen. Not having another tv, i resorted to taking it to my parents and trying it there. Newer LG tv and it worked 1st time with zero problems. So I am assuming it is some sort of HDCP compatibilty issue between my tv and the ps4. Tv in question is a Samsung LCD circa 2008 with no usb port so unable to update firmware. Gutted.

Same happened to my brothers 2010ish Samsung 1080p tv, and also my mates top of the range 2013 Samsung TV. Tried many HDMI cables and different ports with no avail.

Connected to 3 different TV's with no problem!!!!
 
Does there seem to be any pattern in respect of the make and/or models of tv that have an issue with the PS4? I could almost understand it if it didn't work on a cheapo supermarket own brand tv, but not one of the major makes like Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Panasonic etc. Oh yeah, and Sony!

I have seen a thread on the PS4 support forum about people having issues with surround sound receivers when using the HDMI pass through.
 
Sucks that your all having problems but am glad you all seem to getting somewhere a mates was faulty his drive was very loud and clanky but game refused a refund even though that's illegal and told him to see Sony, Sony are collecting his Monday but he isn't getting a new one when collected which I find odd

Got a text from DPD saying it will be delivered today. Hope you get the same.

Got my text at 7:30 this morning and has just been swapped.

Set up and working after a nervous couple of seconds where there was a blue pulse but downloading update now :)

Fingers crossed yours turns up

Must admit impressed with Sony. I rang at 3pm yesterday and replacement comes first thing
 
Its what seperates good companies from bad ones. Anyone can sell you something, its how a company deals with problems and customer service that shows what they're really like.

In fairness I wouldn't have thought to call Sony, as first port of call is always the retailer.
It was only reading the forums on uk playstation trying to find a fix that I stumbled across the phone number and people saying that Sony were swapping out so quickly.

Hopefully the stock shortages won't last too long.
 
Argos are showing the knack bundle as delivered within two days. Very.co.uk showing the console as in stock if it helps anyone out. :)
 
At launch all manufacturers will be geared up for quick replacement every time unless they have a lot of issues and they run out of replacement stock, you'll also be guaranteed to get new instead of a refurbished unit.
 
not a big issue but i couldnt get COD to allow me to upgrade to the PS4 version yesterday.

i had to go in-game on the PS3 and put the code in from the menu, it is now downloaded and ill give it a bash after work.

not sure if this is the same for all digital upgrades or not

Did they just take the actual console and give you a new one? or did they give you a new boxed console?
