water vs deicer

2 litre Coke bottle filled with luke-warm tap water. Pour over windows, get in, activate wipers and heated screens as necessary, drive off.

Outside the window is a doddle, anything works quickly. It's the bloomin inside that's a pain. Blowers and full and nothing happens!

Make sure you don't have air recirculation on and get the A/C on abit over the next week or so to remove some of the moisture inside the car.

Under normal circumstances there should not be ice inside the car.

My garage keeps things dry

You can get dehumidifying bags that you leave in the car then dry out regularly in the microwave. Search a couple of unmentionable sites.

I just boil the kettle, go outside and pour it over. Works awesomely and doesn't ice up again straight away.

I've seen a windscreen crack with boiling water.

Andi.

I've found that running the AC when it's very cold actually makes misting worse in my car, I guess the condensation doesn't drain away from the evaporator that well. I also have a leak and wet carpet in the back which doesn't help much.
To the point though, I tried the fairy liquid trick on the glass since I was reaching the end of my patience with the misting up. It really works, the windows barely mist at all now. Would recommend to anyone, do half the screen just to see the difference!

It's not ice in the car, it's just mild condensation on the inside of the windscreen :p

The temptation is to wipe it away but I don't want nasty smears being left behind.

I expose my burning loins....melts all ice within an 8ft radius.... good for heating up drinks when forgotten about.
