Dodge tiler, wanting money?

Ok we've plenty of workman lately all been good but the builder/contractor had refeered most. Now our tiler did the kitchen ok (removing tiles)

FF to Bathroom. He's late everyday. and I mean he says 8.30 and 12 is considered good, I think once he was ontime or 30min late.anyway he has more of the bathroom to do (tile remove) but my mum handed 350 for a bathroom (bath etc) out a cataloge. He ordered and paid.

Past 3 day. He rang the bell LATE (the day before it wasn't 9 but 2ish) so I answer and I am SURE it was him he waved so I left doors open and5min where is he?? he left?? no sign so yesterday, he knocked and left stuff and went.

So today he said if we don't pay the rest for him to get it we losee deposit #500 more we need.

My mum is gunna ask to go with him to make sure it's right as we think he'll get his money say summit take tools and go.

Worse all payments are CASH IN HAND. He is NOT legal I guess, we joked of him going the job centre but its possible.

When he works he's great its a shame. What advice is there? I have his address and landline - he was found in yellow pages things and weve address

my mum took a week off work and I did some so when you could get money you are waiting for someone whos ripping half a day of your day.
 
1st world problems :p

Express your concerns to him, do not pay any more money, keep a record of when he arrives, when he leaves and what work is done.

If it remains unsatisfactory, approach trading standards. Ask for his full business details too.
 
Losee the money. find a new referee for the tile match.
Maybe he committed suicide after a RL conversation with you ?
 
Why did your Mum pay him prior to all this? If he was any kind of tradesman he would have an account and you would pay once the jobs finished or installments throughout the job once you see progress. TBH its your own daft fault. Go with him as you have said, hope you get it sorted.

Did he actually purchase the bathroom suite? Is it in your possession?

Now he wants paying for the entirety of the job up front after only knocking the tiles off the wall? Or maybe he wants the rest of the purchase price of the bathroom suite?

I can't tell. Your posts are so hard to decipher.

Never question, just accept. Let the words flow over you like the backfill of a sewage pipe, reversing your excretions over your face and mouth until you can barely breathe.

I know, but every time I still try and understand while musing about his mind.

I wonder if he used to be lucid and coherent but too many years of partying have taken their toll.
