But is that a good thing or a bad thing seeing as bf4 still has issues which need fixing, I hope Mantle doesn't bring more.

Well as it stands BF4 is a horrible mess so they do need to sort that before glossing it over with mantle.

Am sorry but how is Battlefield 4 a mess? It was Server crashing etc but I and other friends I know haven't crashed for weeks.

I missing something here?

I don't have any probs with BF4 aside from bugs. Not getting any crashes or bad performance. Things have been stable on that front for a while. The game is full of terrible bugs though.

I've had more crashes since reinstalling than I did at the start. Go figure. Far to many bugs, net code issues etc.

That's very true. BF4 is a huge turd so I hope Mantle has a good supply of glitter. :D

Head buried in sand lately shanks? If you experience no crashes doesn't mean the MP game is not broken - just check out the forums.

I hook up to game with two mates regularly (no machines the same). Since release one of us was playing relatively crash free with the remaining two crashing roughly once per map rotation.

This has maintained to this day, myself not improved regardless of patches and server fixes and tried every tweak I know. Since the new maps released the guy with the 'stabler' system has had more crashes than ever.

You are probably in the minority of players who dont get crashes to be honest, all the people I talk to experience lots of issues even if they dont crash, drop, error per map.

tbh I play with a big player base on Battlefield and the crashing isn't something I hear them complain about. Excluding the server crashing first two weeks.
I hear more talk about Hitreg than anything else, another thing I dont find much wrong with it apart from getting shoot when getting into cover.

Maybe I just lucky.

The forums will always show people having issue's at the end of the day people who have issue's complain, them who dont have issue's dont.

Yeah that's true people will complain. I do however think you are lucky, I could probably continue plugging gaps with band-aid fixes from my end however it is quite blatant that the game was rushed to release in a poor state.

I feel that rather guessing the issues and hoping for the best, the developers can resolve most of the issues just by general feedback and error reports. It's not just PC with issues but the consoles all had significant reports to highlight the game is poor.

For now I have turned to mining in the short term hoping to phase back into playing with more improvements made in a few weeks.

Another guy in our circle has fed back today saying since the patch he is constantly bombing out and rage quit. Clearly there is more work to be done by DICE - end of.

BF4 is the most rushed feeling game I've ever played. Can't remember the last time I experienced so many crashes or bugs. There are literally 100s of bugs. I've given up in it, it's do bad, so although I was looking forward to Mantle I can't see it being implemented well at all.

Still a lot of people are waiting with baited breath to see what the performance gains will be in this game If it fixes the bugs it really will be amazing

It's likely to be buggy from the off. What they're attempting to do has not been attempted in a long time. I think you'll need to be patient but the gains are likely to be sizeable.

Would guess that if CPU optimisation is present from day 1 then multi-GPU set up's might be able to escape the CPU bottleneck issues.

Have to say performance is by far the least of the problems with BF4 - neither of my main setups are even remotely challenged CPU wise in any scenario upto a single 780ti in the game and once core parking is disabled any semi decent i7 4 core / 8 thread will ace it even without Windows 8.1. The game itself however is horrendously rushed and buggy and full of issues that they still don't seem to have learnt from or fixed from the previous ~4 games :(

Performance gains could be a 1000% improvement, but it doesn't mean anything if it arrives in a broken crippled mess. The only thing standing between mantle and success is ea and dice, they really could make or break this for amd.

I wouldnt bet on 'make' the way things have been going. Even if it does make BF4 run fast and run well on GCN cards I think BF4 has a poor enough reputation for it not to matter. Worse still, if Dice have Mantle in the software already ( and I'd be stunned if they don't), waiting to be patch activated, any hint that this has been causing or adding to the stability issues in DX will do more harm than good to AMD and Dice.
In fact if BF4 runs as intended under Mantle then any future release, by any dev, with Mantle support will not be looked upon favorably by people with non-Mantle hardware until it can be seen that Mantle and DX support can successfully exist in the same application.
So, while I genuinely hope that Mantle does what it claims and is supported widely, I genuinely hope that it does not fix BF4 (although I do wish something would, it is driving me up the wall at the moment).
