Is it only women or men aswell that like the central heating wacked up?

In my opinion people have got too used to having central heating, so when the temperature drops below their usual, they feel cold, yet it they kept it at a cooler temperature all the time their bodies would acclimatise to it and they'd feel fine :p

When I was a kid I lived in Cumbria with my mum, she couldn't afford to heat the house much and so got used to a little gas heater that we huddled around. When we used to visit my aunt and uncles in Essex, I could barely sleep I found it that hot, even though it was only about 21` :D

Also yes, this missus is always sneakily cranking the heating up! Yet still sat in just a t shirt and paper-thin hoodie

We keep ours on a timer in the winter months and it'll cut out at 18 degrees. No need for the house to be any warmer really, dispute the protest :D

It's like at the workshop at work, Ill light the heaters in the morning, and I get absolutely roasting, so I open the door, and then everyone winges at me saying its freezing in here, yet its about as hot or slightly cooler than a summers day.

Yet because its winter its obviously got to be volcanic temperatures because we'll all die of hypothermia otherwise?

I kind of like it cool in my flat, which is handy because all the flats below seem to like it roasting and I basically never need to turn the heating on.

This. Dumb people being dumb people.

In my office at site I've not had the heating on, well, probably ever. And I don't pay for that even if I do use it. I function best at just above freezing point

its -23oc outside and +18oc in doors. Its hot enough for me. GF wears 3 pairs of socks... Swedish people are immune to the cold.

Maybe the women are not the weak ones, but the ones who cannot "bear" a little heat are..

Go to a Sauna, you won't enjoy it :P

I never have the heating on, I grew up in a house with no heating so I don't feel the cold.

I can't sleep when it's hot, studies have even shown it's not conducive to healthy sleep, naturally we're supposed to be at a slightly lower temp when sleeping.

Happens in the workplace as well. We had a major project going on the last 8 weeks so have had individuals from Bulgaria, Finland and the UK bases in one building working on it. The only 3 girls who are part of that team would whack the AC to around 27 degrees because it was too cold for them otherwise.

My dad seems to instantly know the moment we touch the thermostat, it is set at twenty and if it is moved AT ALL it is instantly turned back to 20. He lights the fire in the back room so the heating rarely turns on due to the thermostat thinking the house is warm enough due to the fire so my room is freezing. even when the heating is on it is still cold as very little heat gets to my radiator anyway. i dont mind cold but i can still feel when its cold and it is annoying for the 5-10 minutes before i go and get a jumper

Lol, these people should try working in our fire test lab. A giant tin building and the heating has been broken for months. It tends to get down to below 10°C in there. Hell it feels colder in there than it does outside most of the time! More so when we need to have the shutter door open to bring stuff in.

Yes thats right. We have a 3x3 / 3x4 metre furnace yet the boilers are broken. Oddly enough whacking the burners on doesn't actually seem to heat the lab...

i'm assuming you all walk around in 3 inch thick coats with ear muffs and gloves :D:D:D

Our thermostat is in the colder part of the house, so it would never reach a comfortable shut off point. We just have it on a timer for half an hour before we get up and an hour and a half in the evening.

No need for it to be on all the time.
