Hey guys, So far i managed to get 4.4gig with 1.25v on Core Voltage. (went up to 1.30v trying to get 4.5gig but gave up, kept putting my system on a boot loop and too much vcore for just 100mhz)

Only thing i did was change the multiplier and Vcore. Disables EIST and all C states. i have a few questions on how i could improve this overclock though.

Do i need to pratt around with the bclk?

what about my uncore?

CPU Vrin?

id appreciate all the help, original aim was 4.5gig but it wont boot if i go higher than 4.4

So far I am at 4.4 GHZ @ 1.3 VCore, 2V VRIN Override, Ring Voltage 1.2V

I had to put the VRIN up from 1.8V to ensure my system was stable. Haven't touched uncore/bclk at the moment. If you think you have found the sweet spot I would be inclined to leave it. I am no guru but this is my experience so far.

Later I might start lowering VRIN/Ring Voltage to find the sweet spot, alternatively if after some AIDA / BF4 and my temps are fine, i'll probably leave well alone and just enjoy the overclock.

i can't keep mine at 4.4 stable, temps are well within acceptable but stability is unreachable for me.

i'm sitting at 4.2 until i can be bothered to spend another weekend tweaking to try and reach the fabled 4.5 (not much hope if i cant keep 4.4 stable)

^^ Try changing the VRIN / Ring Voltages if you haven't already. My system didn't become stable until I had upped them.

I need to do further stability testing mind. But its definitely the way forward for me.

I havn't tweaked my vrin / ring voltages yet, will try that next and set my CPU VRIN Override LLC to extreme.

what about uncore?

Edit: i cant find vrin or ring voltages anywhere on my mobo settings

just checked its called "initial cpu input voltage in the asus uefi about 7 slots down from cpu core voltage

Might try tweaking them settings later but for now ill probably just leave it. i guess ill find out in a day or two if my 4.4 g with 1.25v is stable or not. Only way using an extra 0.10v would be worth it is if i could get to 4.8+ which i doubt

I suppose if your cooling is good enough you could push the chip hard. But it comes down to the point, do you really "need" the extra 100/200 mhz.

Pop back your results when you can. Always interested to hear other peoples experiences as I keep testing mine.

Just need to finish work so I can get back to testing the rig :)

If 4.4 is stable at 1.25v i'd be very surprised if you could get 4.8 stable at 1.35v, i fact i wouldn't want to put money on it going past [email protected] but you never know!

Bclk leave as is. Absolutely no point playing about with it unless trying to post max core clock validations or OC'ing RAM.

Uncore leave till core is stable at whatever multi you settle on. It doesn't make too much of a difference in daily duties so for most auto will be just fine. If you do want to OC uncore don't pull you're hair out trying to raise it. Voltages to use being vring, maybe a touch of vrin (vccin/eventual etc) and SA when you get to the limits.

Vrin is normally fine set to auto till you start raising vcore higher, i.e 1.3v+.

Booting at the next multi up may require a bump in vcore just to boot for some chips, try adding +.01vcore till it boots. Just remember stable will require more.

As amigafan said, not all chips are created equal, i don't think your's strays far from the average!

I've noticed after my overclock when ever i shut my pc down a lot of times it reboots instead of shutting down. What is going on?

I'm going to give it a play at the weekend, my chip never raises above 45 degrees under load at 4.2 so i'll give it a harder push

what voltages are you using?

Would also like a run down as I intend to delid my 4770k, I can get 4.5GHZ on 1.34v stable on Prime 95, but temps are 80-85. If I use Aida and stress the CPU + Cache my vcore (which is manually set goes from 1.34 to 1.4v!?) and temps rocket. Cooling X60 (but going to go H100i as the X60 is being RMA'd.

Ok i tweaked my overclocked since i had a problem where my pc would restart instead of shutting down.

Now using the following settings, if its stable ill attempt to low Vcore as much as i can.

Multi= 45x
Vcore = 1.34v
Min Cache = 42x
Max Cache = 42x
Ring Voltage = 1.17v

Initial CPU Input Voltage = 1.8V

it ran 6 passes on IBT but i turned it off because i temps started exceeding 100 degrees

Delidded my 4770k last night (hairdryer and razor), dropped my temps by 20c ish. Although my chip is naff., I can achieve a stable 4.6ghz allbeit with 1.37volts with temps below 82c.

4.2 4.4ghz? these chips dont seem that great overclock wise?

My old 3570k yes an ivy which was just as bad when not delidded was capable of 4.6 and 4.7 at a push.

I hope my 4770k is a good chip when I get it lol.
