*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Are there any lockscreen mods for Stock Android?
I want to hide the up arrow and the camera icon from the lockscreen.
Normally i use WidgetLocker but that in not working with 4.4.1 :(

I thought that we were still waiting for 4.4.1 to become officially available?

Edit: Sorry... written before I had read the Android central article as linked to above! :o

Now we know! :)

Fancy giving us impatient people a quick summary? Will watch the video later on, but just curious to see what you've found.

I'm expecting there to be noticeable increase in maximum volume?

Sorry, I set it to upload and dashed to work, running late.

For me, maybe 2db difference, at most.

I watched the video earlier and thought it would be a bigger difference, my nexus 5 seams much louder with the update than before.

Just tried my nexus 7 2012 which has just had the 4,4,2 update and that also sounds louder than before ....maybe its just me hearing things :)

It honestly comes down to you Mike. Both have their perks.

Nexus 5 in general is faster feeling, everything feels so instant on the N5. Camera on both are extremely comparable, not sure which out and out wins. Nexus 5 probably takes the better photos in low light. Nexus 5 will also give you immediate access to the latest version of Android for the next couple of years.

On the other hand the S4 has removable battery and SDcard storage. The Nexus 5 battery life is actually pretty damn good, it should always last a full day even under heavy'ish use however if you feel you will often need more juice and 32GB of storage isn't enough for you then you should probably seriously consider the S4.

I thought the Nx5 battery life was one of it's weaknesses? (according to reviews)

People over at XDA are complaining about 4.4.2. It's made some things a lot worse. Noise cancellation and video and the gallery app seem to be suffering with the new update

Weakness??? It's so darn good I can't kill it over the day with heavy use.. Unplugged today at 6 am with 4 hours screen on and I still have 23% left

im no expert but i believe if you lose root you can easily get it back again without losing any data

its only when unlocking/locking bootloader it wipes everything

this may also help mate: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2523217

although im sure someone that knows 100% will answer soon!

So when I install the update I only loose root, and that's it? In that case, I await the arrival of 4.4.whatever version OTA gets released

That's something you should know :) I personally need 32gb but do you? Do you take a lot of pictures? Store videos, music etc on your phone? If so probably.. As I've said it's up to you
