*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

My LG 50PZ570T is good but I always end up using my Dell U2713HM. I haven't played on the big telly since they day I got the PS4. Think I'll try it again and see if I notice a difference.

I find that interesting, I find the image terrible on my monitor (same as yours) as it's not running at it's native res. TV is above and beyond.

I can confirm, the analog thumbsicks appear to be made out of cheese, as one of mine has started to fall apart around the tip or the thumbstick, its really odd.. now I'm going to find some grip covers and get this one replaced as well.

cracking controller the ds4 but thumb sticks aren't very durable.

I had this when I use a ps3 with my 24 inch monitor that was native 1080 as the image wqs mostly 720 but the ps4 on the same monitor has been fantastic looking

Hold power on the machine, will it reach safe mode?

The only problem I've had is I found an issue where if you press the eject button at a certain point during boot nothing ejects, but when the machine is booted it doesn't know there's a disc in the tray and won't eject.

Nope it won't go into safe mode at all, no extra beeps no matter how long I hold the power sensor.

Power off the PS4 by holding down the power button for several seconds. You will hear a beep and see the power light turn red.

Power on the PS4 by holding the power button down and keeping it held down. You will hear an initial beep when you press the power button. Wait about 7 seconds until you hear a second beep.

Once you hear the second beep, release the power button and the Safe Mode screens should appear. You will need to connect your DualShock 4 controller via a USB cable to the PS4 since Bluetooth is not active when in Safe Mode.

Tried everything, I kept my thumb on the power sensor for like over a min and nothing happened. It tried to start up and the blue light flashes up fast and then goes off I hear a noise like a click and nothing after that.

I got the disc out by using the manual eject screw. Got a replacement coming tomorrow.

When I tried to use the controller the light on it was flashing white. The thing is brown bread.

Just uploaded a vid of the PS4

I swear when I'm playing Ghosts what I see in the replays don't reflect what I see on screen.

That's COD and it's ancient engine for ya! I'm not buying COD at all for the PS4 unless they invest in a proper new engine for it. Ghosts was kind of excusable because it's cross gen but next year they'll have no excuse.

Bit disappointed in my controller guys. The left thumbstick is peeling quite bad now, can imagine in a couple of weeks it will be down to plastic! Anyone know if there's anything that can be done in regards of getting an exchange? Also does anyone know if it's possible to extend the standard 1 yr warranty? Cheers.

I was waiting for the consoles to release before I decided wich I wanted, I have now played both and PS4 is the one to go for in my oppinion.
Thing is now I cant get hold of one.
Why didn't I just go with my gut feeling and preorder back in August.

Thumbstick wear

Is everyone experiencing this or is it a small proportion that were probably made with too soft rubber?

So what were the deciding factors for you?

I've not but I have used the ORB covers since day one. Not great but I have now got used to them and seems like the way to go to reduce the wear!

It was hard because there are games on Xbox i would like to play, but for me the Xbox console is massive, and with almost the same spec as the ps3 suggests that they are terrified of the overheating that plagued the xbox 360.
Im also not keen on how they want xbox to be this all in one system that you use for everything, for me that is just to much control for one company to have, especially when you MUST agree to the terms and conditions, Microsoft have already shown what direction they want to go but backtracked due to the backlash, but in a couple of years will we see things added to the T+C like tracking what you watch on TV or what your watching from external devices.

The xbox has a fixed hard drive and copies large ammounts of data to it from the discs, plus if you download games or movies i think 500gb will fill quickly, meaning you have to start deleting data.
the ps4 however is a GAMING machine, and for me its only jobs will be play games and bluray's it also has (slightly) better hardware and a swapable hard drive so should it get full i could buy a 1 or 2 TB drive and use that instead.

first of all the people having trouble with amazon, it's the busiest time of the year for them, they are getting hammered with orders, black friday sales and all as well.

i'm sure it's just processing, packing and shipping delays which are to be expected in December, just hold tight.

i wouldn't bother emailing them or phoning them unless it's urgent, they are probably being bombarded atm and you will be in a very long list of complaints or enquiries.

Well I've contacted Gamestop about one of my analogue sticks wearing away in less than a week and they have ignored three emails from me. Not even acknowledgment of receipt. Phone call tomorrow then.

if you bothered looking at their hot uk deals threads you would have seen their customer service is one of the worst in the world.

good luck with getting any replacement or a reply, thats why i would stick with play asia for cheap games and controllers personally or buy from amazon or shopto, etc.

Still a fun game though.. So :p

not really, all the crap they keep tacking onto the engine is manipulating the engine taking away from gameplay, it's making it worse and worse every year, if you were to play a decent FPS you would notice the HUGE difference in gameplay.

COD is aimed at the mass markets, not for the serious FPS player who wants ultimate realism and gameplay.

i liked cod and i have had practically all of them, in fact ghosts is the first i haven't bought in forever. it's inexcusable they are using the same engine when it cannot keep up with everything.

their lagg compensation is terrible as well because the engine is so old and manipulated, your basically hoping that the game works instead of just sitting back and enjoying it. hit markers, hit detection, etc can be all over the place, hosting gives you a disadvantage now, lol first game i've ever heard of this happening, that is just mental. your punished for having a good connection.

i have switched to BF4, i played a BF in the past think it was one of the 1940 ones and BF2 and i didn't like them, but after seeing that i was trying to play them like i do COD rather than appreciating them for what they are, i now know it is a far superior game.

until they get a new up to date engine i shall stick to BF4.

Did you all buy PS4 with regular 1 yr warrants, nobody with extended 2/3 ?

no reason to, with the sales of goods act in scotland your covered for up to 6 years, in england it is 5.

my ps3 broke after 5 years and 10-11 months of use and play.com gave me 50% the cost of a refurb direct from sony without an engineers report.

had i went and got a engineers report they would have paid 100% of the cost of a refurb from sony.

our consumer laws are really good, it's just that a lot of people simply do not know them and don't know that a lot of retailers actually break them constantly. their was a programme on tv the other night all about outlet stores and tk maxx and basically how their trading and pricing and marketing is basically all illegal.

I am on mine on the left stick :(
Same here, left stick is noticeably more worn out than the right. I can actually see tiny rubber grains around the stick where it is rubbing off. It's not causing any issues yet, I hope that the rubber doesn't get seriously damaged like in some of the photos. :(

I too have ordered orb thumbstick covers, I'll get a replacement gamepad but to stop the excessive wear I'll use the covers. I'll get use to them ...

not overly impressed with the durability of the ds4 thumbstick, but the pad itself is excellent comfort wise ...

Did you seriously just suggest the XB1 has only slighly better specs than the PS3? Seriously?
