*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Bought my nexus 5 today, running 4.4.2 :) Leaving it alone until its charged 100% then im going to run it through a full decharge cycle and recharge it just to be sure (common habbit) ordered a SPIGEN ultra hybrid case and screen protector also. First thoughts are that display is beautiful compared to my 4s :D Batch is 311k also so im hoping i escape issues some have moaned about on batch 310k

Is it unlocked already? As my N7 Wasnt i had to go through NTK to unlock it then root it.. I want it rooting so i won't begin data loading if i need to loose it to unlock the bootloader

You'll need to unlock the bootloader first same with all nexus devices :)

nice one :)

where's the batch number displayed? on the box?

Sony Ericsson used a different type of 3.5mm jack for voice/controls, they won't work with most OEM phones. Its nothing to do with software.

Edit:
deshepherd you'll need a OMTP to CTIA 3.5mm adaptor to use your xperia play headphones with the N5. Everyone has moved to CTIA now btw.
Sorry for not replying quicker ... thanks - that's just the info I was looking for - I assumed there must be a different standard involved. I'll have a look for CTIA phones.

Also, another poster mentioned bluetooth phones - I picked up a cheap pair recently in a "black friday" offer and the controls on that work.

Well I took too long to make my mind up! 32gb is back to 2-3 weeks now and I want something before xmas. I'd order the white to get it in time, but it looks awful imo :(

Sideloaded 4.4.2
This phone just keeps getting better :D
Most of the niggles and bad bits have been fixed via a software update.
My Cerberus and dropbox are now working again on 4.4.2 as well.
Very happy :)

No 4.4.2 for me. Is it because I sideloaded 4.4.1?

Yes mate think so, I never installed 4.4.1 and mine popped up last night from 4.4 to 4.4.2

I think 4.4.1 was only sent to the verve and everyone has loaded from that rom as I have yet to hear of one single person apart from them that got OTA 4.4.1.

If you used SuperSU then it will prevent the update installing as it locks install-recovery.sh

Wait, what? I finally prepared to update, and just this minute received the OTA notification, only to see this post? Do I need to just uninstall SuperSU, install the update, re-root and then install SuperSU again?
