I've never dealt with such a bunch of buffoons!

Been paying my tuition fees off for 3 years now since I graduated. Except...well...I haven't.

You see, the money comes out of my pay but apparently doesn't go towards paying off my loan.
Spoke to the genius's at SFE/SLC customer services tonight again who couldn't serve me. Apparently to deal with missing payments I need to call between 9 and 5 weekdays. You know...that time when most people are at uni/work making money to pay off their frickin student loans! Then and only then can they help. Not the first time I've tried to chase this and previously been assured it was solved except it hasn't been.
The woman on the other end of the phone was able to confirm that I'd sent correspondence to them and not had anything back...She clearly didn't get me when I pointed out 'does that not show a bit of a problem?'

Anyone else dealt with these morons and had some success? Or is it a forlorn hope?

My student loan comes out near enough correct, as in less than £1 of what I think it should be.

What do find odd is that many engineering grads don't seem to be paying any back. They should be worried as they all get over £30k when they come off the scheme and if they aren't careful they will get used to the extra £100+ every month, making it hurt far more when it finally comes out. They earn too much for the 'well they will never pay it off' general comment to apply. The last thing a family man aged 45 needs is a student loan on top of kids at uni with a mortgage.

They are completely and utterly incompetent. My girlfriend is currently at university and they have for the last 2 months sent her 3 letters stating that she owes them money while also stating in the same letter that they have paid extra into her account. When you phone them the staff are completely hopeless.

I'm in my 4th year of uni and you will be shocked to hear that i have never had student loans go through even remotely on time due to various screw ups on their end. This year they got my dads name wrong on their system so he couldnt provide his financial details, despite having had it correct the previous three years.

After sending a copy of his birth certificate so that they could get it fixed they decided the best thing to do would be to change my loan to not financially assessed with no way for me to change it back, locking him out from sending financial info again. They said that it could be fixed by post and that they would send a partially filled out form for us to return to them. They STILL had his sodding name wrong on the form. How difficult can it be to read a birth certificate and enter a name for god sake.

Their current solution is for us to print off a form from their website and send it in, but i dont exactly have my hopes up

What you people who are speaking to forget is that they are only probably taking the info from a computer. Just remember they don't personally know you and can ono work off info they are given!

as you can tell from my previous post, even when they have all the information they need they are utterly useless

I went without any money in my first term at uni because they cocked up. They sent me a letter saying I own £25K, not paying it at the moment as I only year £8,500 a year.

Yes but when they are given the info they still seem to be incompetent. Trust me I've been there when my girlfriend has been on the phone and some jumped up moron is demanding that she pay back money she can not possibly owe. They are currently demanding that she pay back £600+ while they have suspended any further payments to the university.

Its when things go wrong that a business show's how good/bad they are. This lot shouldn't be in charge of the office tea fund.

My wife paid off her loan, got all the paperwork, and then two months later they were taking money from her pay again. She had to write letters and claim back the money for about six months, and they only finally got it sorted after we threatened legal action.

Bunch of useless buffoons is putting it mildly.

Not everyone gets their loan screwed up!

You would be surprised.

Sadly, this.

While I'm sure it's not all, it's a ridiculously high amount of people who have issues with them. Even when you just need to sort something routine with them, it's still stupidly difficult for them to achieve.

Honestly one of the most incompetent organisations I've ever had to deal with!

the annoying thing is that if you don't give plenty of warning they keep taking money from you once you've paid it off... at the same fixed percentage above the threshold... if its salary payments that take you over then its fine and you only need claim a bit back... some people get issues when a bonus payment causes them to massively overpay thing thing and then have to faff about claiming a rather large lump sum back.

Why lie

If you are behind with your loan repayments:

Tel: 0845 073 8895 (open Mon-Thurs from 8.00am to 8.30pm, Fri 8.00am to 5.30pm and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm)

I've been paying off a £4k loan for... ten years? This month they took £318. The problem is I can't prove I didn't receive some of the money they said they sent me (there were random £500 payments to me on the statement which I never received. I got £700 a quarter) because my bank statements don't go back that far. :(
