Currently on Z77 motherboard with a 3770k 1155 socket. In the future I want to upgrade this, but to what, from what Ive read DDR4 and Haswell-E are going to be nearly another year away and knowing what I'm like I'll probably want to do something before this time, plus DDR4 will be expensive for the first couple of 1/4's after release.

So where do I go next, I want to buy a motherboard that's got a couple of CPU's lined up for future release rather than having to change it out on every upgrade I make if I can help it. Or should I just wait it out and save up for some 8 core fun.

So whats the line up like, the computer is used 90% for maxed out gaming so money not an issue, but spending £400 on a CPU with similar performance as a £250 one is.

Like the others have said, don't bother, it would be pointless. Even if you went to Haswell and Z87 that line is dead already as it's looking like the Haswell refresh needs a new chipset and won't work in current boards. If you haven't got your 3770k clocked shame on you (ban!! :D) get it clocked for some free extra performance.

I'll be surprised if the Haswell refresh doesn't work in current boards, but I don't think it's anything to upgrade from a 3770K for.

I'd wait until DDR4 etc came out on a platform before jumping to a new one really.

I think Haswell refresh would work with current boards, but they'll introduce new chipsets with additional/new features.

just like with SB-->IB
