*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Just rang Playstation support regarding peeling thumbstick. They basically said there was nothing they could do other than me send the controller in for them to inspect which would take over a week. They class it as wear and tear. So I've requested a call back from the supervisor as this is BS basically. week old console, wear and tear my foot! Will keep this updated.

Ps the guy I spoke to didn't even know this was a big problem for many users :S He googled it and was quite surprised and agreed with me then that it was not acceptable.

More people need to start complaining it's always been an issue I had to replace the left thumbstick on 3 different ps3 controllers with ones from eBay

Never had an issue with previous controllers, i'm still using the DS3 that came with this PS3 in 2008, no wear on the sticks at all, but my DS4 was showing signs of wear after 3 days

Woohoo Shopto processing my PS4 order that I placed on Dec 3rd.... Should mean its shipped tomorrow and will arrive Friday :D

Just another querie guys, is it worth me ringing asda where I got the PS4 from to see if I can extend the warranty for the PS4? or is the 1 year plus customer rights, sales act thingy suffiecient? At the time of purchase I didn't really think of taking extra out, but it kind of nags at me thinking what if, what if it died after a year etc.

Cheers.

As far as I'm aware, Asda don't offer extended warranties.

I was going to buy some stuff on Warframe to support the devs....then I saw the prices!
£23 for 500 platinum which will buy you 1 or 2 weapons and a new Warframe
Total joke.

Thumb stick on one of my controllers has a tiny imperfection that looks like it might go bad down the line. Contacted Playstation support, they said I have 12 months to get it sorted. ShopTo.net were equally helpful. Said I can swap it out any time.

Did you phone or email Playstation?

No problems here with DS - you man must be seriously abusing them controllers! :p
No problems with the 1.52 update either - played some more killzone last night after it.

Do we know what 1.52 update brought to the table? - I couldn't find anything in options or was it just a stability release?

Mines started to wear down on the left stuck as well and I'm always very gentle with my controllers. Used my ds3 far more than the ds4 and it has no wear. I'm guessing it's not universal as plenty seem to not be having problems with it, but it's certainly not how it's used that's causing it.

Input lag while streaming to Twitch has been fixed.

Noticed it playing FIFA last night. :-)

I've not played my PS4 much, but I am loving it so far. I'm just disappointed with the lack of decent launch games. I'll hopefully get some multiplayer KZ going this weekend. Need to try and make that game last until some more next gen worthy titles are released.

Apart from some Resogun, Flower, and a few demos, my PS4 has had very light use. But even I had noticed some signs of wear (just little granules of the covering so far). So someone in a factory has clearly cut a few corners and saved a few too many micro-cents on the covering.

I don't see it as being a major issue, even though it is the kind of thing which people can point to as a worrying sign of poor Q&A. But this was always likely given the bang for buck they've crammed into this elegant little device. And we all know anyone buying into the first wave of any new tech is going to encounter issues. As long as mine are only cosmetic I can easily live with that.

I've not noticed any wear but I'll go home tonight and have a look. Honestly I'd be annoyed if there was any, it's not really acceptable given the amount of R&D they put into the DS4.

My DS4 is fine so far, but it hasn't had too much use. I think it's pretty obvious from the feel of the rubber though that it's not the most durable of materials, so I'd expect pretty much every pad to eventually suffer to some extent until Sony a) acknowledge the issue which they've probably done internally already, and b) use a harder wearing material.

Not sure if this his been posted, but it's been found out that Foxconn employees are selling off sets of 10 official replacement analogue sticks for a tenner:

Some guy on reddit order them and confirmed it, but he got given 20 instead of 10. I only see my left thumb stick wearing down, so 10 replacements should last ages. I've ordered them, will see how they go.
