Bloke uses our road as a Car Park

I'd say its perfectly fine to leave your car there during the working day, I don't suppose many cars will be there anyway, as they'll mostly be at work (or in this case at the train station) - But to leave the car there and not return to it for 4 days is disrespectful.

I'd probably say that most home owners would agree.

who is being "disrespected" in this situation?
I own a flat and half a house, if someone wants to park on the street outside then fire away, it's a public road for use by the public!

I don't feel entitled to any ownership of the road that my house is on - I own the house, not the whole road, I'd much rather one car was parked in a space and left there for a while rather than worrying about numerous people trying to park around my own car, less chance of damage then!

Whoever lives there, surrounding houses etc.

So your saying, if somebody was to park outside your house for 4 days straight making it difficult to get on/off your drive you wouldn't even be the slightest bit annoyed?

On the other hand, would you go and park your car outside somebody's house for the week and not feel bad? even after they have left you notes to ask if you wouldn't mind parking elsewhere?

I'd be a bit ticked off if somebody was to hinder me getting too and from my drive, if they didn't live there and the vehicle was there for days at a time. Especially if they'd politely been asked not too...

As for doing it, I'd never bloody dream of it. I had to park outside of somebody's house for my entire work day a few weeks ago and my bumper was slightly overhanging their drive. (Not to the point it would be a problem as their drive was huge) I knocked the door and asked if It was okay. All was fine, even though I still felt bad for doing it!

EDIT: Maybe I'm just nice and you are soulless... Just like the OP! ;)

I'd say leaving notes on a car that is parked perfectly legally (as long as it's not obstructing access) is plain rude in itself.

This is why I work on the assumption that everyone is a **** it makes life much easier when you don't get excited about people being nice :D

If i'm ever up Manchester way I might take you up on this!.... or should I, after seeing what you've done to that poor BMW!!

I have to be really careful as people will think I actually did it and call me every name under the sun.

this is pure troll this thread ehh?

I just read through it, and from get go he is trolling,

vote ban ;)

I'm not entirely sure how you reached that conclusion. It started off me sharing something that, rightly or wrongly annoyed me and my neighbours across the road. I asked if anybody else had similar issues in the past.

It then continued and I made a jokey comment about keying the side of his car - which led to waves of keyboard warriors saying how much of a terrible person I am, despite me explicitly stating three times that I had no intention of keying the car.

As people continued to quote the first post without bothering to read the thread and see I was joking, I went on to post a photo of the sinking car.

If you honestly thought it was a troll thread from the start, then more fool you.

YOu can think what ever you like, but the bottom line is its not ilegal, and no laws have been broken. Therefore if OP doesn't like it he needs to go to the council and ask for the implementation of a residents parking scheme for which they will all then get the pleaseure of forking out money to park on the road even if they live there.

I will. And i agree with that course of action - or any other course of action the OP wishes to take as long as it is legal.

Just pointing out that unlike some i can understand the annoyance of the OP and that the actions of the person are what i would consider rude and inconsiderate. I would strongly suspect the person parking the car would not be too happy about someone doing the same at their property.

This. If it was blocking a drive or blocking a public highway (whether that be pavement or road) then you would have a case. Unfortunately, you do not.

yes, but there is nothing to suggest that access to the drive is hampered in this situation, if there is a car parked in front of the house for four days and not making any difference to me apart from seeing the same car, then no, I wouldn't get annoyed at all!!)

On the other hand, would you go and park your car outside somebody's house for the week and not feel bad? even after they have left you notes to ask if you wouldn't mind parking elsewhere?

If I was parking in a space which is free every time I want to park in that area I wouldn't see it as a big issue and I would wonder why someone felt the need to try and stop me using a vacant parking space on a public road

I'd be a bit ticked off if somebody was to hinder me getting too and from my drive, if they didn't live there and the vehicle was there for days at a time.

yes, me too, but its not happening here, the car is parked on the opposite side of the road from the ops driveway and is clearly not obstructing anything for anybody

so again a completely different situation where you were causing an obstruction!

EDIT: Maybe I'm just nice and you are soulless... Just like the OP! ;)
yes, maybe i understand that if I am parking my car in a space with no restrictions and not causing any difficulty to any other road users or home owners -then there's no problem - but I guess I'm just soulless!
