MSI shows off Radeon R9 290X (GAMING) Twin Frozr 4S OC

I wonder if those prices also reflect the current supply/demand issues issues with AMD cards because of the mining craze.

Then surely EK backplate would be compatible, since they are compatible with the card for the equivalent block. They also do not need a block to mount, so you can keep the stock cooler.

Well i had the same query with my evga 670.. Asked on overclock and someone said the same (not doubting you)
Got it and it wouldnt mount unless i had the waterblock on it
So in my junk draw under tv i have a new ek backplate for a 670

Quite possible but Gibbo did say that £360 - £390 was looking the way for the 290 custom cards. It seems massively steep if the 290X is £536....

That's nuts but this mining has hit the PC world by storm and this isn't a bad thing and supply and demand will still see sales. Buying 2x7990's for under £400 a couple of weeks ago was a sweet but now the 7990 being priced higher than the 690 is crazy.

I might have to tweet Roy about it :D
