Hi all

just managed to buy an PS3 off the bay, coming with 20 games and "move" controllers

recommend me some games from each category please? :)

Except FPS because my PC does all of those

ideally want racing games (loved Gran Turismo 1 and 2)
Beat Em Ups (loved Mortal Kombat II)
and some other stuff would be good

As Cookie says, PS+ is excellent value for money, even if you're not a huge fan of many of the titles it slowly gives you access to. It's a great way of sampling the back catalogue.

I've not been a big PS3 fan until quite recently, buying it just for GT5 originally, so I guess I have to say GT5 if you want to save money or GT6 if you don't.

In recent months I've been amazed by The Last of Us, Uncharted 2 and 3 (I find 1 entirely missable), Journey, Flower and Super Stardust HD. As a pretty hardcore PC gamer until then I heartily recommend picking up all those. They all offer experiences I haven't found elsewhere.
 
PS3 exclusive must haves:
- Last of Us
- Unchartered series,
- GT5/6

Racing:
- GT5 and 6
there are other arcade racing games I didn't like them: F1, Motorstorm, Dirt, NFS Shift etc...


Fighting:
God of War and Ninja Gaiden may be up your alley if you like melee combat games. not my cup of tea but seem to be quality production

Other: dunno if you have played the following on other platforms.
- Mass effect series
- Fallout Series (better on PC tbh since I play that in FPS view)
- AC 2 - you have the sequels (ACR and ACB) so may as well
- Lego series are quite fun platform type games
- the latest release of Tomb Raider

think that should keep you busy for a while :D

Most games have been recommend i would. Say get wipeout hd, metal gear solid series, ratchet and clank,GTA5 god of war 3
 
one of the fighting games i enjoyed most was "Fight Night Round 3" an old title now and not the newest of the series but a good boxing game. cheap as chips these days!

which version of GT5 is the best? I see there are 2 or 3 different versions?

didn't like dead space, mate bought it for me as a gift on steam, couldn't get on with it at all

I got GT5 on its way as I loved the first 2 on the PSone
GT6 I thought was more oriented to buying extra credits or something?
apparently the sales on GT6 is 80% down on GT5
