Hi again guys

I have recently upgraded from a single GTX 680 to a single GTX 780

To be honest, gaming, I havent really seen any significant improvement or gains

Would moving from a single GTX 780 GPU to dual SLI GTX 780 make much difference in gaming?

Mainly play BF4 and COD Ghosts

Cheers guys

Lew

You would see a major difference in fps with bf4 but if you already have playable fps it's not going to be a big deal. I see you have a 120Hz monitor so if 120fps is your thing another 780 will do the job in bf4. Only question it really worth the extra outlay for better response times?

At 1080p games will play about the same on a 680 and 780 because a 680 can max most sames already.
What difference were you hoping to notice?

780, 780 SLI etc is really aimed at 1440p

Only go for a SLI GTX 780 setup if you have money to waste on a system that is overkill for over 95% of games at 1080p..

I game at 1440p with my GTX 780ti setup and I could most likely count the games that can use that much power by the fingers on one hand..

Another vote for oc'ing the cpu. I found both a stock 3770k and a 4770k to be a bottleneck with sli 670's.

Thanks for the suggestions guys

Think I may try and O/C the CPU first

Is there anywhere where I could get a profile for my MOBO that someone has pre-cloked for me?

Really struggle with O/Cing CPU's as seems too technical for me

its not technical at all infact is very easy :) look up some guides, with the 3770k its just a question of leaving your voltages alone and upping your multiplier to say 42 (4.2ghz), if you boot thats great run a prime95 run or a game on it, if you dont crash try upping your multi by 1 rinse and repeat when you get to the multi that your chip cant boot or pc crashes then you increase voltages untill you can run (As long as you dont go over 1.38v) this is a very basic explanation as im ill but you get the rough idea. Do everything in little steps and it will take time, watch your temps also i like to keep my chip under 70c if i can

Il try it tomorrow evening when I get back home

Will let you know how I get on

Does anyone here run sli GTX780?

If so,do you notice any improvements whilst gaming?

I run GTX780 SLI @1200p and it runs like greased lightening :D I play BF4 on ultra and I found the difference between the single card and two quite staggering in terms of fps and overall feel, it's silky smooth now regardless of the map.

I do run a 4770k @ 4.7ghz mind so please take that into consideration. Some say SLI@ this res is overkill but I couldn't care less it's a slick experience and I'd do it again :)

Hello, I've been running a couple of 780's for a while now and I could not go back to a single card, frame rates have gone through the roof and although I game at 1080p I'm a big fan of 3D vision and this is where I most definitely see big gains.
I see you have a 120Hz monitor, so I'd say yeah, get that second 780 for sure, you can't have to many fps.
Have you considered 3D vision? It's very immersive and can transform a game so much so it feels like a brand new game, even older games are given a new lease of life. As others have said, overclock that cpu.

I have a 4770k at 4.6 and had 2 msi780 gaming editions until I sold one yesterday. Ive been running one card for a few days though and I don't miss it tbh. I game at 1400p and high amounts of aa don't bother me and most of the games I have tried are more than playable with bf4 running like a dream on mp. Sli wasn't that bad but I had to play ghosts and splintercell on one card as they were a mess using sli but one card didn't drop below 60. I'm not knocking sli as I have done it every generation but I have now found I am actually gaming instead of spending nights looking for fixes and waiting for better drivers.

I agree bf4 single player is awful with SLI, well at least it is on my rig at the moment, sorry op, I should have mentioned this as you did state you mainly play bf4 and cod, can't comment on cod though as I do not own it. I have found that bf4 is good in multiplayer with SLI but this is just my experience as for single player you can just disable one card as it runs fine. There will always be a few titles that don't work to well in SLI but then again there will always be a few games that don't work very well regardless of gpu's. I'd say give it a go, I love it and don't regret buying a second card.
Merry Christmas all. ;)

At 1080p, I'm not sure there is any point going SLI. Not sure there was much point going to a 780.

At 1440p, the 780 is still an awesome card, and the likes of BF4 feel a bit smoother overall, even with fps averaging a bit lower, but at this res it does start crying out a little for SLI.

Actually did do some gaming at 1080p yesterday for lol's, and man it was so smooth...

Currently toying with the idea again of going to a single screen. I nearly got that right last year when I tried a 32 inch LG TV, until I discovered one of the devices (now can't remember if it was PC or PS3) didn't like working with 3d when combined with that tele and my receiver.

Think I have gone off point... unless you are trying to hit 120 fps, then a single 780 oced with your cpu oced should do very well.

If you play BF4 with Ultra and 2xMSAA at 1080p then a single overclocked 780 will pull an average of 100-110 FPS which is more than enough.

So the difference would be hitting 120 FPS+ with 4xMSAA. Is that worth it? Not for me if that's what you play most the time but it's up to you.

SLI 780 is amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's probably way overkill for me at 1080p but I bought them in mind with going to 1440p in the new year :p

I've never had games this smooth before. It's really great. Even my 580 (1x) at launch didn't feel this smooth.

Mine isnt a great clocker tbh, but at the same settings at 1920x1200 it handles bf4 very nicely even at stock. Lower max fps than sli 670 but a good deal smoother.
