****The Official Note III Thread****

Depends on when you bought it - good deals are usually a few months after release.

My deal was a pricing error - handset price should have been £240, not free ;D. It was still honored though.

Was around mid October so it hadn't been release that long. I upgraded 4 months early which was £109 and opted to pay more monthly as I didn't have another £99 to cover the handset cost. Would have been £34 a month If I had paid the £99 handset fee, £41 without it.

Very similar to what i did infact lol, kicking myself i didnt wait longer to be honest.

Meh :p

Unlimited 4G internet from Q1 2014 + £40 Cashback = £24.33/m

Would have stayed with 3 if I knew that offer would be around the corner! Bought mine shortly after release :(

Another potential customer here...

My contract is coming to an end and I've got the option of upgrading now.

I'm looking at the Note 3 or the Galaxy S4...can I ask you owners what you think of your Note 3?

Thanks! :)

I think I've figured out what's' causing the poor signal: a software issue. It appears that the program that makes the signal bars change doesn't react fast enough to changing signal! It will take a good 2-3 minutes for the bars to increase when the signal gets better (checking it against the signal reading in dB in 'About Phone').

I've also noticed that the bars seem to be different (maybe more accurate?) than other phones: whilst other phones will show 2/4 bars for a signal between ~ -95dB and 100dB, the Note 3 shows 1 or 0.

I conclude therefore, that the radio is actually fine, just the software is a bit broken.

I find it great - and got used to the size after about a week.

The phone has so many positives:

Lovely sharp+bright screen with best colours yet for SAMOLED
Awesome crazy battery life
Finally smooth TouchWiz
3GB RAM - great for keeping apps in memory, fast switching
32GB On board storage (great for games) + sd slot = excellent
USB 3 - v.Fast transfers to internal storage
1080p60 Video recording for lovely smooth video
Great aesthetics and design - that back is a big improvement over the N2 + GS4.
Great audio quality with headphones
S-Pen, which I don't really use thus far.
Fast 2 Amp charging

Speaker is mediocre but has good volume - stereo speakers would have been awesome.

I had the GS4 previously - and am much more impressed with the Note 3.

Thanks for your detailed post! :)

That sounds good and it's interesting to hear you've moved from an S4 which is the other phone I'm looking at.

I'm moving up from an HTC Sensation XE which I've had some issues with, mainly it often loses signal, both phone and wifi for no discernible reason and often when trying to go back to the home screen the HTC logo appears and I have to wait about 30 seconds before it allows me to do anything again....very frustrating.

I'm looking for something reliable that will last me for a long time, I'm not interested in upgrading in two years if what I have serves my purposes.

It's interesting to hear you haven't found much of a use for the stylus, I think that's something I would use quite a lot for general browsing and writing texts etc.

Thanks again for the opinion, how are others finding the note 3?

Had a look at it first time today and wow what a screen even though I have a note 2.

Wish I waited and bought an note 2 LTE instead! Now when 3 is rolling out 4g I would be tempted to get a note 3, argh!!

Pretty much all of this really, I'd love to see a 4.4 KK google rom for this device sometime soon or hopefully see CM before xmas.

Kona, it looks like you're using a smaller DPI, did you put another rom on that or have Samsung finally realised that Note users want a use the higher res and screen real-estate?

KK in Jan apparently.

Well that's just a delicious piece of tech...you cad, tempting me! :p:D

When are you getting it? :p

I'm all stock the moment - itching to put on a custom ROM, but biding my time for a KNOX workaround.

It's Nova launcher with small white icon pack for the dock. And rest of the icons in the drawer set to 85%.

Bog off the lot of you! :p

It really is tempting though isn't it...

I'm going to be ringing T-Mobile later today to see what they can offer me.

Previously I've been on the HTC XE with 500 mins, loads of texts, unlimited browsing and 1GB downloading for £18 a month. I think the standard price was £30+ for that deal two years ago.

Anyone know what the best deals are at the moment or what I should be able to push for? I'm on a business tariff with them at the moment.

Also...the missus needs to upgrade her phone, she's looking at the Galaxy S4, I wonder if I can get an even better deal getting two at once...?

I've got the s4, no problems and I really like the phone but I'd get the Note3 now for sure, I intend to keep the s4 then get a Note4 in about a year

The deal Kona posted is available for £32 nothing upfront so a bit less than a quid a week more than Kona's missprice.
