Hello, I did have a Corsair tx650w psu which died. I got that one because it was super quiet. Unfortunatly I cannot use my rig untill I can find a substitute. I dont really want to go below the 650 watt as it would seem a backward step. I only have about £40 so a second hand one is fine if need be, ;if anyone could recomend a decent psu. My rig is as follows: E8400 cpu, gigabyte mobo, 2 sata hdd and a radion hd 5870.

You'll need to estimate how much your machine is pulling from the wall as a 650 for £40 will get you something cheap, nasty and unreliable.

I would advise against getting a cheap-o PSU as they tend to go out with a bang and take your components with it.

The specs you have provided give a rating of 363w so a good 500/550 would should be your aim. I'd put another £10ish in an get something like this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Akasa Venom 550w Modular '80 Plus' Power Supply £55.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK) £55.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £53.99
Total : £175.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

There is an EVGA PSU, but I'm not sure of the build quality.

if its a gs series make sure its the newer one 2013 as the old ones had a problem with the fan not spinning and making a noise
get the super flower 650 as listed above :) yes its better
