My two 290x in xfire are giving me some major issues.

in game and in benchmarks the fps is jumping all over the place, the GPU's usage is mental from 2%-100% always changing!

Any idea?

Update:
Its my Original 290x thats playing up.

I tried mining with it and its Like.. GOOO STOP GOOO Stop.... Over and over. Clocks jumping all over the place and same for the % use..

Wtf happened

I presume you're using afterburner to monitor gpu usage? If so i beleive there is a bug with the sensor/afterburner that will be fixed in the next beta of afterburner. It causes the gpu usage to jump around. Sometimes 0% sometimes 100%. However fps should be stable, is for me anyway.

Hmm. Ok. Although in games it's hard to play due to it.

Will turn ab off and see what happens.

I know it's deffo hardware doing this as the card does suffer from coilwhine and that's changing upon each high and low.

Both cards under water so no throttling

Yup. Matt you were right.
AB was causing the problem.
ta

You know the saying Brotha. Never question the ways of the LT.

Hey LT, Seems Unwinder finds what you said to be untrue, He says its not an AB bug and will not be fixed as its not an AB issue.

So… Seems i can't use AB as its cripples my cards lol

If thats not an AB issue then i don't know what is, as if i was using MSI cards i would be very upset that an MSI branded Overclocking software breaks my cards.
But I'm not using MSI cards thus I'm not too upset

Yeah i probably didn't phrase it correctly. Its a bug in the AMD driver involving the sensor or something that makes afterburner display it like that.

I find my 290's work well with Afterburner. What settings are you using?

EDIT

Actually it seems i misinterpreted what he said.

Normal settings i suppose. But i won't use it until AMD fixes it

Any other software that will display Clocks, usage and frames on my G19 LCD?

It was an honest mistake. I knew it was not a bug with afterburner because he told me, but i thought he said he had a way of getting around it or something. Its too complicated for me to understand really. :p

HWINFO64, but you might still need to have afterburner/Riva Tuner on your pc.
