I'm looking to get a new mobo and cpu after new year, so which would you suggest?

I mainly just play games on my PC, and obviously the general use, but come March 2014 I may be looking to stream as well as I think that's the time Fibre Optic will be in my area *fingers crossed*.

So which would you recommend?

Games I play:

- DayZ Standalone
- League of Legends
- Battlefield 3/I will get BF4 at some point
- Football Manager 2014
- Arma 3
- Counter Strike: GO
- Any other demanding games coming soon.

defintely intel first.

amd if on budget. i5 or i7 is fine as is a 8320 oc.make sure you get a decent card your good to go.

if you doing youtube videos i suggest you get a seperate hd for recording .

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T @ Stock
8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue @ 1600MHz
3GB Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X OC
500GB WD VelociRaptor
640GB WD Caviar Green
Asus M4A87TD

If you are staying with the single card i5 is fine. I get about 80% cpu usage in bf4 with a 7970 with a4670k at 4.5ghz.
If you plan on crossfire then get the i7.

What motherboard do you have? if it has 8+2 phases then simply drop in a FX 8320.

IMO mate over the next year it's very probably going to come to pass that you only need an FX CPU for the best performance.

So yeah, if you have a Sabertooth, Crosshair etc then just drop in a CPU.

^ Especially with Mantle, when that gets properly implemented (if it does) I don't think there will be a need for a major CPU upgrade for a while
That being said, Mantle has yet to drop and it may be just a gimmick.

Now if you don't have the Mobo for the FX, get yourself the i5, I highly doubt we will ever get to the point where a game is going to be using all 8 threads, and when we do the i5 will be ancient anyway.

Just placing a FX in isn't an option my mobo doesn't support it, people on here have already looked into it, aswell as myself.

Guess it's an i5 with a second monitor xD

Unless there's anything else I should consider instead of a second monitor?

The new rig would be..

Mobo: Asus Z87-K
CPU: i5 4670K
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue @ 1600MHz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212
HDD1: 500GB WD VelociRaptor
HDD2: 640GB WD Caviar Green
GPU: 3GB Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X OC

The 3 new items comes in at £291.88

You can buy the fastest/most expensive components for everything you want but nothing will literally feel faster than an SSD upgrade. If you just want one for windows you can go as low as 60GB for the C: drive. 120GB is a sweet spot though for OS only as it allows you to have most/all your apps there and possibly a few games in rotation too (not that it matters for games really).

Hmm, then there's the problem of which brand though, as I know nothing about SSD brands.

The only one I know that is good is Intel, the rest I'm unsure on, but I've been told in the past to not get a Crucial SSD.

Get the Samsung, they are supposed to be very very good, the 840 series have been getting high praise.
