not meaning to be depressing but not everyone has a good time over the festive
period. I have suffered from depression since 2001 and for some reason
christmas time makes it 100% worse.
I find being sick and crying helps :/

anyway sorry for the downer thread.
what do other people do to cope, read, go for a walk?

ps. no medical advice I dont want the thread closed lol

You might be surprised how much it helps.

While I don't suffer depression, this time of year can be trying for many people and is undoubtedly stressful. Hope you are ok though.

Get a punchbag. ;)

If you have a bit of money you could try going to a non-christian country for the weeks before and after christmas where the festive season will be a complete non-event and it will be so hot that you won't feel festive at all.

I often consider this, never been on a plane though lol.

I too suffer from "depression" (quotes because its all relative to the person involved) I agree with von smallhausen on the punchbag. I definatly feel a bit better after taking it out on one. Also a good workout :)

Laying on a beach at Christmas is awesome. Did that several years ago and can't figure out why I haven't done it since.

This year was fun but could have been better given that my brother was trying to emotionally blackmail me into giving him cash to buy presents for his kids (he'd not saved a penny all year but could afford to buy drugs). Told him to get bent as I'm tired of my family trying to make their problems my problems..

Sorry you are feeling this way.

Crying always helps, the louder the better, that's its sole function :)
Being sick will create another set of problems, please don't do this.

I coped by finding a new hobby (well restarting a childhood one), I just hope my eyesight is up to it.
Look at doing something creative (because exercise is a bit boring in the cold)

I know christmas is a poor deal before it begins. It all starts at work, no thanks for you're efforts or anything, it doesn't exist. Starting on such a wonderfull downer, over the last 10 years it's become just another day, like any other day. Ill take the bonus of a day where i realy don't have to do jack....though.

The daily routine doesn't change, 5 mile run, eat the same ect.. no pretence, just same ol'e. Guess im kinda fortunate i can think and be that way, where as others can't, i feel sorry for them.

This year highlighted how much I dislike Christmas, its just an excuse to get people to buy more pointless ****, and pick up debt.
The only tradition I've went along with, is drinking heavily, and that's just made me feel a lot more down.

Happy that we're past Christmas, just need to get New Year out of the way and can get back to normal.

Yes, I have social anxiety and depression.

Don't like christmas and wish I could "fast forward" like with a remote control.
