Having struggled and failed to get a HUdl for my MUm for Xmas, I'm looking at alternatives -obviously the N7 2013 would be the best but it's out of budget and franking over specced for my mum, whou will just do a bit of emails and browsing etc on it.

One alternative is the Galaxy Tab 3.

I know it's lower resolution and slower etc than the hudl but overall is it a reasonable tablet that will do basic tasks with ease?

It's pretty poor for a 'new' tablet to be honest, but it's cheap, so you pay your money and take your choice.

My other hald has a Galaxy Tab 2 which is pretty much the same as the 3, and it works fine for her which is browsing and ebooking, with the occasional basic game.

I'm not sure how the prices match up, but (if you can still get it) would the 2012 Nexus 7 be a better alternative than the tab 3?

It's a cheap tablet at a cheap price.
More accurate, I have one and it's still more than capable so it's a good tablet at a cheap price, just not cutting edge :)

Edit: assuming replies above are for nexus 2012 which the thread diverted to not the galaxy tab

I was commenting on the Tab 3, I doubt you can get a 2012 N7 for £79

If you can, then it's an epic bargain and I would jump on it.

Does any one know if the UK is going to get the 32GB & 64GB versions of the Samsung tab 3 10.1'' as the shops only stock 16GB model ?

Asus Memo Pad 7" - £59
Galaxy Tab 3 (7") - £79
Nexus 7 (2012) - £99

The Memo Pad wins hands down at that price, I wouldn't even consider the other two.

Been doing a bit of research. The Nexus 7 2012 does not have a rear facing camera so thats a big minus

Asus Memo Pad 7 for £59 seems to have expired?
