The 38 Most Haunting Abandoned Places On Earth.

Isn't Pripyat pointless now seeing as you can't get into the buildings anymore?

I find places like #3 quite soothing actually. Nice place to have a wander alone with your thoughts. :)

Chateau Miranda - Celles, Belgium

This one reminds me of the castle from the film Casper for some reason..

Though beautiful, I rarely look at abandoned places photographs anymore. They're nearly always oversaturated with colour and look toylike and unrealistic. If they were just left as they were or with minimal processing they'd look a lot better. Doing this strips them of any atmosphere, which is totally counterproductive to their point.

Officially you cannot but most tour guides let you anyway. This is actually the way it has always been. In april 2012 there was a huge crackdown on it, they actually fired nearly every guide and brought in new ones who were stricter but they eventually lightened up. On my first trip in 2012 we couldn't but on my second trip in 2013 we actually climbed Duga 3 and then climbed onto the roof of Reactor 5.

The source of the woodpecker that used to blight the HF bands. I'm insanely jealous of you for not only seeing it but climbing it as well. Got any photographs you can share of the array?

This really bugs me too. It's not artistic at all and doesn't add anything to the scene. Looks like someone just randomly added 'scary' looking filters in photoshop. I want to see the environment for what it is, not your ***** interpretation of it.
