Women and Temperature.

This is probably a long shot. Can it work with eon's device? Their software is so buggy it only works on Windows XP. It's completely broken under Windows 7/8.

It was so handy having graphs of each day/week and month/quarter. http://kelvyntaylor.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/how-to-connect-eons-energy-fit-monitor.html

Yep... It's the exact same hardware I use.... Eon energyfit is essentially a currentcost envi monitor that's been rebranded for Eon.

I also used to use that java app posting to pachube and later to xively but it was far too flakey. Then I tried a perl script posting to pachube again the pachube/xively service is rubbish so much so that I had to code in network handshakes and timeouts. In the end I thought sod their graphs I'll log them locally instead

Why don't you market the software. It looks good from where I'm sitting.
Paypal/ downloadable link on a webpage for it. search engine optimize it.
Could earn you a few quid with the amount of people out there with these "free" devices looking to optimize their home energy usage when the software that is currently available is just carp.

Amen. It's unreal the crap eon wants you to install.

Yup, mine finally gave up talking to the PC completely.

Had it running for years too.

Yeah thing is that it's designed to run on a low powered device embedded device like an android stick or a raspberry pi.... No point running a PC 24/7 and burning more leccy.

Mine's running on an old android tab which has been flashed with linux. I just use the hardware button to toggle through screens of info or live news that I want to see

I'll think of opening up the code if it's possible... The main problem is that the monitoring function is only a small part of the codebase - It does a heck of a lot more which is why I wanted to keep all the functions together and offer it as a package.

Currentcost's so called 'bridge' should have been running this

//edit HOLY COW @Fuzz that's a heck of a lot of leccy

One thing I have always wondered. If body hair plays a part in regulating the body temperature, does the fact that women wax and shave more of it off than men explain why women tend to feel the change in temperature more?

Probably doesn't effect things as much as I think, was just curious :p

Your software? I used to run that device off the PC as it was the only way to get the graphs. Now I can't see week and monthly usage. I'm none the wiser now except day to day by looking at the device itself and what eon tell me. As eon is telling me I'm using far too much.

What size is your house? I see your far right bar is 3 which is constant 5 for me.

I know where you're coming from, but no. Women in general are more petite than men and so they feel the cold more.

I can't get over how you're only at 327watt. At night I'm about 1.21KWatt. Once the computers are off, the only thing running is the fridge, freezer and freezer in the garage. Sometimes the boiler. Minimum 350 - 450 watt through the night.

someone nicking your leccy? :p

actually i suppose if a ketlte uses 2kwh then a boiler might use a lot.

The PC is running 24/7 anyway, always has done but now (since about April) it's actually mining for bitcoin as well. Keeps my feet warm anyway :D
I kept note of leccy usage online (BT) and it hasn't taken a spike up since doing so.
Used a lot less gas though but that's mostly down to the new boiler going in at the end of September.

Average leccy for the whole house is 25Kwh a day. Didn't think that was too bad. :o

You'd be surprised at how much leccy freezers take... I've got one in addition to the normal fridge freezer... Zoomed into a graph for you ... Notice the peaks as they cycle on and off...

I went through a phase of being an energy nazi a couple of years back and got my idle down to an astonishing 80W but then the sky box and the freezers arrived and I had to be content with a minimum of 200W :/

//edit check all the stuff you have on standby.... it all adds up ;)

We have a massive double door fridge
A massive upright freezer
and in the garage we have another two chest freezers LOL.

Not going hungry any time soon I can tell you.

Interesting. Though, the Sky boxes are in Eco mode. Full red light through the night. I have become power nazi but I can't find more to kill. :(

Still uses 30W the last time I measured it.... My whole home network is at only 10-15W

Not allowed to turn it off or else I'll get the full wrath of the Ice Maiden :D

Hmm, how is that possible. No sounds from the box (complete silence) with full red light. The drive can't run until the orange light kicks in. It's the equivalent of a full power down without pulling the cord.

Thanks.... I'll look into my power saving settings, maybe I measured it whilst it was orange. Going downstairs to stick an energy monitor on it - will see what it reads in the morning :)

Wish I bought a few of these now then I could have stats by appliance or cluster of appliances run off an extension cord
