Looking at a budget of 50 to 60 quid.

Board is a Z87-G45 Gaming CPU is 4770K. I've pushed it to 4.4 gigs on the intel stock cooler but it heats up to 69 degrees.

Way to risky.

Now that I know the CPU will go to the speeds I want it's time to get a new cooler.

I was thinking about one of these contained liquid jobs that seem to be popular now, mostly corsair but I've read some of them can be noisy ?

On the other hand I'm scared a super large hsf will get in the way of memory, Kingston hyperX beast series.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Get one of the slim Noctuas like NH-U14S (if you have a wide case) or NH-U12S. They are designed to clear tall ramsinks whenever possible. You can check motherboard and RAM compatibility on the Noctua website.

Thanks.

Would have to remove the bottom fan which according to all reviews I've read would decrease performance.

I purchased a refurb H80,and i gotta say its lovely and quiet, also the block is nice and small and you wouldnt need to worry about fans or memory sticks getting in the way
I dont think they cool perticularly better than say a 40 cooler but they look the part.

The Noctua NH-U14S is a nice cooler, Ram compatibility is not an issue, it is how close it comes to your GPU, and if your case will take the height.

On my Asus Gene VI it touched the graphics card.

Only 69C at 4.4Ghz on the stock cooler?
What volts?
Mine hits 80C at 4.3Ghz with a Noctua NH-D14.
It also depends on what you are doing for 80c and what he is doing for 69c

The H100i can be just as quiet as the Noctua NH-D14 and gives slightly better cooler at this noise threshold. You also avoid the clearance problems with the top PCIe slot. If you let the fans get loud then there's ~12c temp drop for me but better to budget for some SP120 fans not the stock ones that come with the H100i as these are really loud at maxium.

Just wondering how big the difference in both noise and temps would be when replacing the stock fans with Corsair SP120 Quiet Series or the Noctua NF-F12.
