My God Damn Computer Chair

Well after only two months after buying what I believed was a high end computer chair it has already fallen to bits. Two wheels of snapped off and it provides no back support at all. At the time I paid around £80 and that was meant to have included a half price sale. Now I can see why the sale price was that good, the shop owner couldn't wait to get it out of his store!

Anyway enough of the rant. This is where I'm hoping you fellow chair commanders can help me source a new one. I'm happy to pay in the region of £100 and would even consider second hand if that was all I could afford within the budget range.

I just really need a comfy chair that provides a good back support. A chair that could last longer than four months be too much to ask?

Anyway people, I sure hope you guys (and girls) can help point me in the right direction. I don't think I could handle another day on this god damn rollercoaster ride of a chair!

Thanks for listening! :)

For close to that budget maybe ikea markus? Or if you want leather staples bronx lasts me well for its price

High end chair? £80? Lol! You couldn't get any cheaper

B@

Was thinking the same thing lol.

£200+ gets something decentish, but not "high end" by any means. Avoid chairs from the likes of Ikea, the Markus gets mentioned a lot, but all chairs of that ilk (ie. cheap but with good looks (like a cheap hooker)), end up with padding that's as flat a pancake after a short period. Does the back of the Markus even have adjustable tilt?

Though to be pedantic there is cheaper available, if your masochistic at least. I had a £50 thing from argos which was like sitting on a bed of nails after a short time and it wasn't just the wheel that broke off, but a whole leg snapped off and the chair went over backwards!

No chair for £100 is better than the chair you just bought, nor is it any better than a £20 Argos chair.

Spend £200 plus and get a chair that makes you sit right and reclines properly.

I have that problem with my chair where the gas has gone and it ends up slowly dropping to the bottom while i am sitting on it, very annoying. I did found a solution for it though, if i purchase what is called a jubilee clamp then attach it to the gas fixture at the bottom of the chair should prevent it from slipping down.

I would suggest listening to the likes of Skyfall and Energize; you are not going to get a decent chair for £100. If you want a specific recommendation, I would go for a reconditioned Humanscale Freedom. I got one in July 2012, and at £235 from a popular auction site, it was the cheapest "decent" chair I could find. I think it was money well spent - I can sit in that chair all day without it ruining my back, and unlike the cheap chairs that preceded it, it is showing absolutely no sign of wear.

eBay office / business clearances.

I've seen Herman Miller Aerons go for £150 :)
