Woman in London wearing a niqab stalked friend before throwing acid in her face

Do you honestly think banning headcoverings would have stopped this from happening?

It may well have done. I'm pretty sure these attacks are based on the perpetrators thinking "Infidel showing her face and upsetting God, we'll throw acid in her face to teach her". So if no woman was allowed to were the face veil the attackers would have either been massive hypocrites or moved to a country where this silly mentality that all men are just rapists so to go off at the sight of female flesh is rife.

I know all that, but reading the stuff that was said, it mainly references horror movies and a motive born out of jealousy, not religion.

Well I maybe putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 but I'm pretty confident that throwing acid in women's faces is purely a Muslim activity. I've yet to read a story where a chubby white chick has thrown a glass full of hydrochloric in her prettier mate's face out of jealousy.

Did she have knickers on? Shoes? Do we need to ban them as well as they surely played as bigger role in this event as the niqab she was wearing. Do we stop there, should any item of clothing that a criminal wears during the crime be banned from society.

Perhaps weve been missing a trick all these years thinking that criminals are just bad members of society when clearly the answer to all the worlds problems is simply ban the things that are clearly to blame, their outfits!

Looks like Niqab didn't prevent the person getting caught.

Point nullified?
I agree in this case, but we don't know how much extra time and resources it took the police to investigate this case.

Hypothetical situation, if you were to rob a bank would you stand more chance in getting away with your crime with or without a face covering?

Consider Cambodia. Located close to Vietnam, it reported approximately 100 acid attacks over a two year period. More than 95 percent of the country practices Buddhism with less than two percent Muslims. So much for nirvana, a state of ultimate peace, I guess.

Or look at India. While actual numbers are much higher, a Cornell University study asserts that there were 153 acid attacks reported just in the Indian media from 1999 to 2010. The country is 80 percent Hindu, 13 percent Muslim and two percent Sikh (who are also not immune to such attacks).

Many cases have been reported from Hong Kong and China. Even in Israel, a small country, a teacher and two students were burned when a Jewish family decided to bring the feud to school by throwing acid on their faces.

What abouts shoes and soccks, trousers and pants. Same thing applies.

The person who threw the acid did not come from Islamic background, she just was wearing burka at least read the article.

We should ban them because religion is stupid, but the OP can't even justify why they think this particular head covering is more dangerous than any other.

I don't think we should ban them because religion is stupid.

I actually think religion is stupid, but I have worked with a lot of lovely Muslims, but don't think they should have special rules that allow their identities to be hidden. I can't imagine me walking into a shop wearing a balaclava would be ok, so why allow them to wear it?

There's giving different cultures and religions a chance and then there is this.

I don't even... :o

They were lovely because they were nice people, not because they were muslim.
