I've just installed a H100i and on starting my PC back up, I'm getting an diagnostics code of 45.

According to the AsRock website, this is relative to the memory.

A1 Single Channel fails to boot
A2 Single Channel fails to boot
B1 single channel boots fine
B2 single channel, untested

Dual channel doesnt seem to work, will try alternative combinations.

Memory in question is Patriot Blue 4x4gb

Why would this suddenly start playing up when I've only changed a cooler?
 
You may have over tightened something thus bending the board slightly causing the cpu socket pins to make a poor contact?

Or you have knocked something out of place?
 
Overtightened CPU heatsink can cause memory issues,it cuts off the signal from the integrated memory controller to the memory banks/slots

No, I've double check everything. It's like only 1 bank is working.

I've managed to get B1 & B2 to work giving me 8gb.

Is this type of memory fussy if paired with the "wrong" module?
 
You didnt remove the RAM when you fitted the cooler? if you didnt then it really should just continue work as it was before.

No! I removed the old one and fitted the new one. Switched it on and this.

All RAM modules work, but only in slots B1 and B2. It's like A1 & 2 are dead. Is this even possible?

I have loosened the fittings and tightened to finger tight, but it remains the same.

I have seen posts before where,

• A person has fitted a cooler and all of a sudden the PC is FUBAR, with some careful loosening of the cooler it has been resolved.

• Someone has made a new PC or fitted a cooler and are adamant they were super careful when fitting the CPU/Cooler yet somehow the pins are FUBAR.
 
Flexing of the mb also causes it,if you've pressed down on it too hard,installing fan/cpu cooler pushpins or ram modules ect

Can gently pull it up/down (slightly) from an installed ram stick then try

Again only apply light force
 
Ok, I'll check it and the cooler fittings tomorrow.

For the mean time, it's working with 8gb in single channel. Not ideal, but it works.

I have completed the following:
  • Removed cooler retention bracket & CPU
  • Inspected CPU pins, no damage
  • Re-fitted backplate finger tight
  • BIOS update, failed also, additional slots still fail

I'm now convinced that it must be physical but not sure where to look. I was so careful when replacing the cooler, there was no pressure on the board to cause it to bend/move.

Any more suggestions? I have a feeling I'm going to have to live with it.

This board is old mate, I got it from the MM about 4-5 months go. Doubt there would be any warranty left on it.

It still works so could sell it I guess.
