6GB 780Ti confirmed

AMD users are not as susceptible to marketing which gets you to pay more for less :p

By that same train of thought amd user's buy casio watches because they tell the time and nvidia users buy rolex's because they tell the time and have extra features such as being waterproof or being antimagnetic like mine.....

Nah casio watch has been in the bin for ages we just carry smart phones. Feature wise we are miles ahead v a rolex and cheaper to boot.

I'm half expecting to see a TITAN with the TAN scribbled out >_>

Regarding watches, I don't see the hate. It's more hassle to get your phone out of your pocket/bag and check the time than it is to lift your arm up. They're a good fashion accessory too.

I think most of us are quite tired of the VRAM debate as nobody really knows for sure what the next few months are going to bring.

Personally though - I will be using Ubisofts SnowDrop engine as a gauge. Also, I still don't think this card exists :D

So far the only experience I've had of exceeding VRAM is BF4 (which caches heavily anyway so it's hard to gauge, and is why it's always used as an example on here). Shadow Play was enabled and the FPS dropped to 10-20fps. Usage was max. I'm not even entirely convinced this was the cause, it may of been an underlying issue with ShadowPlay. This was also in Tri SLi which will obviously increase usage.

Multisampling is the big VRAM eater. Using FXAA can reduce VRAM usage by half in certain cases. But as I've said before, I still think this is the first sign of compromise and I'm not a big fan of this :D. Either way for 1440P I won't be bothering if they release this. Even via step up lol.

It usually takes a couple of years for well-made games to start showing up on new consoles, so I'd say don't worry about VRAM reqs for 18 months or so...

Nothing conclusive here but someone has the same idea as me regarding SnowDrop engine over on Linus forum.

Conclusion
As you can see from the sources above 2GB is plenty of VRAM for 1080p in the majority of cases but with the new consoles we're also going to most likely see a new tier of games with a large amount of VRAM usage; if you look at some of the games that have been showcased at E3 they seem to be using the amount of VRAM from the unified system quite nicely. A good example of this is Tom Clancy's The Division. So I think we can expect >3GB for 1440p and >2GB for 1080p but that's purely my own speculation ^_^ .

Aye, one card at 1440P was painful for me when I was rebuilding my rig.

On the subject of 'The Division'.

http://www.videogamer.com/xboxone/t...14_release_claims_ubisoft_massive_source.html

It seems whoever schedules Ubisoft's release dates and the team at Massive aren't on the same page.

"The game engine works well, it's not done but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however," the source claims.

"The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It's a large project, and we have very far to go."

Ubisoft chose not to comment on rumours of a delay when questioned by VideoGamer.com.

Yeah some games you get an adverse affect at 1440P with too much. 8X is just for bragging rights at more than 1080 lol. I normally stick to 2XMSSA or FXAA.

Noticed only recently in DayZ. Using Super Sampling at very high at 1440P VRAM was at 2.7GB. Switching to FXAA took it down to 1.7GB. AA is a big killer, and I think eventually it'll be a case of having to reduce these forms of AA in order to use bigger texture sizes. Which will obviously be more beneficial anyways

I live in England 6 months of the ear and my bank balance is a lot lighter than when I live on the mainland Europe for the same amount of time doing the same things i.e paying bills, Travel, Food etc...
That's what I mean by ripoff Britain.

Are you paid in Euros or GBP?

Seems Videocardz are confident it is actually a Titan 'successor'. Essentially a 780Ti but with higher compute so to set it aside from Ti owners...

He's still spouting it's a black cooler. I'm not sure what to think of most of what he posts, although it's rung true about most things in the last few months, bar the black edition thus far.

This year is going to be full of surprises. The rumor has it that NVIDIA is planning at least two high-end video cards for the first quarter of 2014.

The exact launch dates were not confirmed, but we are looking at a two-months time frame.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Black Edition
Let me start by saying this is probably the same card I’ve been writing about few weeks ago — GTX 780 Ti Black Edition. All we know for sure is that it’s a TITAN replacement and it would supposedly come with a black cooler.

The new TITAN would sport the same GPU as GTX 780 Ti, only TITAN BLACK would have higher double precision computing performance, thus more FP64 CUDA cores. The GTX TITAN Black Edition is also said to feature 6GB memory buffer. This is twice as much as GTX 780 Ti, and it pretty much confirms we won’t be seeing any 6GB Ti’s.

The rest is pretty much well known, TITAN BLACK has 2880 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs and 48 ROPs.

TITAN Black will most likely cost $999. NVIDIA will release it soon, the exact date is yet to be confirmed, but it’s most likely dictated by the 1st Gen TITAN stocks.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 790
The new TITAN will not replace GTX 780 Ti in terms of performance. TITAN series are basically a bridge between Quadro and GeForce models. Most gamers would still stick to the 780 Ti, because of the better price and similar performance.

That said, NVIDIA can’t do anything more than launch a first dual-GPU model from 700 series.

I already posted the possible specs of GTX 790. I could not verify those numbers, so please treat them with a grain of salt. Some sites took it too serious and posted them as ‘leaked’, as if it was a solid information.

GeForce GTX 790 won’t feature full GK110 cores. Instead we are expecting two 2496 CUDA-packed processors giving 4992 in total. What is also interesting is that GTX 790 will not have dual 384-bit interface, but 320 . This will also mean it won’t have 2x 6GB memory, but 2x 5GB configuration instead, that’s 10GB in total.

For those wondering why on earth would it not have full configuration, the answer is simple — power consumption. NVIDIA is aiming at 300W TDP, which is only possible with a cut-down components and lower clocks.

The GeForce GTX 790 is expected to launch shortly after GTX TITAN Black, most likely in February, maybe even in March.

I'm pretty sure once 'Tiled Resources' is enabled on DirectX 11.2 'which combines system RAM and VRAM to store textures'. Vram won't be as much of a concern. 3GB should be more than enough for 1080P / 1440P for a while yet. 4K shouldn't be a concern when buying a GPU today, because by the time 4K is mainstream, much better GPU's for pushing all those pixels will be available..
