Wish i was in a Ramen Shop Counter
I was in Sainsbury's last night and saw they were selling their own version of Copper pans at stupid prices compare to what I see normally. I am wondering what is the catch here.

Their version is "tri ply", steel inner, aluminium centre and copper outer. That seems to me a good combo or am i missing something?

Your'e right, just looked on the website. Do seem very good for the ££. Tempted myself, my 13 year old Analon set is finally dying and I was thinking of going for stainless steel inners this time....

Aldi don't? I've got 2 from there, as well as a frying pan, oven dish and 2 large casserole pans too.

Oh I also have a la creuset pans too, the Aldi ones are just as good but the colouring isn't as nice.

Cast iron is fine for a pan for steaks (meat), but I don't really want it for stuff like sauces and soup. Takes too long to heat up and I don't want the weight.

uv bought one of these in the recent offer and says it's very good. I'm pretty tempted to pick one up myself. I don't have any cast iron stockpot-type pans, for instance...

Very odd! Oh well, now you just need to man up over the weight and build dem forearms and doze shoulders up.

This is the best I could find:

Lol.

I just thought the copper pan on offer at the moment is crazy cheap, it's half price, worth giving it a go. The same size ones on amazon are like £200, as opposed to £25 so the back of my mind think there must be a catch.

Rubbish, we sold all our Le cruseut stuff as it's too heavy and fragile for everyday family use.

We now have a stellar s/s set and are much more user friendly.

It's not rubbish, you just don't agree, there's absolutely difference. If you think they're too heavy then you must be a manlet.

I have an induction hob and quite frankly it shows up the Stellar saucepans. They're absolutely crap. The layers aren't properly welded together so at high settings the pans vibrate and make a buzzing noise.

My Le Creuset pans on the other hand are absolutely lovely to use on it. And unlike on gas they heat up extremely quickly.

It's not too heavy, it's heavier, and unnecessary when you don't need that heat retention when cooking nothing but liquids.

I love my cast iron pans, I have 3 but each have their uses.

I think he was talking to maccapacca, who said that they're too heavy.

I can see how they might be a bit too heavy and impractical in a kitchen where teenagers and/or women are using them tbh.

I can see uses for both cast iron and non-cast iron. Cast iron definitely gets the most use in my kitchen though.
