Can we buy them yet? noticed some retailers are selling asus monitors modified with g-sync. Seems to be high mark up over the bog standard monitor as well.

Not sure on availability yet but nVidia did say you could do your own modding in the new year. I imagine it won't be long.

'Own modding' turned out to mean selected retailers...Some (in the states I might add) do offer supply & fitting services for ~$200 for existing VG248QE owners.

They may become available to the general public at a later date, most likely once they are being produced in larger volume.

The price factors in man hours to fit it as well as exclusivity, expect retail units to be much much cheaper, sub £300 on benq units according to gibbo.

I do fully expect to see the module for sale as a standalone product but I guess limited supply at present is the reason we are not seeing it and going by the amount of monitor manufacturers who have jumped on this, I wouldn't be unsurprised to not see it for a while.

Would be nice to have a full list of supported monitors so we know when/if to sell in anticipation or wait for the module. Anyone seen a list? I have a PB278Q and would love to fit this to it.

Already checked this out and it was mentioned on another gsync post. The module for DIY has been dropped.

At the moment only the vg248qe & pg278q are confirmed gsync monitors, though with asus, acer, aoc, benq, Phillips, viewsonic and probably more under their wing I'd expect other monitors with capable interfaces to become gsync ready.

I think over time the modules will become available, production will be tight atm especially with the given amount of 1440 120hz monitors asus are about to sell.

The new 2560 x 1440 120hz Asus monitors (fitted with gsync) introduced at CES look very nice. Question is, is gsync really worth it for 120hz gamers??

Benq, phillips and AOC all announced gsync monitors at CES this last week

Yes there is something a bit off about paying that much for a TN but it does look like an awesome screen :)

Its Nvidia :D....

.... but really its new tech and the usual premium will be added.

I'm still confused about the tech. as anyone who can afford these monitors will likely have a system that's capable of running 100+ fps and I don't see where 'gsync' would be beneficial? (I may be missing the point - its been known to happen :D)

Exactly. Early adoption has always carried a price premium - I think a lot of people forget that. You pay it or you don't. G-sync isn't mandatory to get an acceptable gaming experience but it should improve things so it's up to each person individually to weigh up the cost against the benefits.

I guess I am in the same boat. I play a variety of games including shooters. Never had a 120Hz monitor so I don't know what I'm missing there but I am told if you have the hardware, the gaming experience is much smoother than a 60Hz monitor and it avoids having to enable V-sync which will give you input lag.

I personally have never had to enable v-sync and I don't notice any major screen tearing on my 60Hz 27'' Asus monitor (1440p). I suppose one needs to see the smoothness of G-sync to become a believer. Also what benefit would those already on 120+Hz panels get with G-sync?
