Right, thinking of trying Windows 8.1. What happens after the 90 days are up if I like it? Can I buy a key and continue to use it, or do I have to reinstall everything?
 
If you're talking about the 90-day trial version of Windows 8 Enterprise, no, you won't just be able to enter a purchased product key. It's a complete reinstall I'm afraid.

At a guess, I'd imagine it's because they want to make all the Enterprise features available to companies for testing purposes, but there's no easy way of disabling the installed code by simply entering a lower version (Core, Pro) product key at a later date. I could be on completely the wrong track though.

If you want to test drive your chosen version of Win8 for up to 30 days and then enter a key without reinstalling, have a look at this.
 
Grab one of the 8.1 RTM ISOs and use a built-in serial.

Right, I've just downloaded the Windows 8.1 download assistant thing from Microsoft site. The downloaded file is called WindowsSetupBox.

I tried both of those keys, they both work, but says it isn't connected to the internet? - I am.

Any ideas?

u need to download the iso from somewhere else. not MS
 
Could you send me a link on here or via trust please. I've had a search and a number of different stuff is coming up, I just don't know if they are safe downloads. It'll take me about 4 hours to download, so don't want to waste my time/bandwidth.

They're placeholder keys. They can only be used for installation.

Could you send me the links as well please. Malware invasion on my windows 7 set up at the moment, might as well reinstall a fresh windows temporarily to sort out the issue.
